Which golf balls claimed top 5 finishes at the The Open Championship? Paul Miller kept track and reveals all….

Scottie Scheffler in the end strolled to a 4 stroke victory on the magnificent Royal Portrush Golf Course. All four of his rounds were in the 60s with his second round 64 being the joint lowest round of the week. The other 64 being recorded on the final day by Bryson DeChambeau.

Scottie was not the only player to shoot four rounds in the 60s – Nicolai Hoejgaard managed to shoot 69 each day but this left him in 14th place – 9 shots off the winning score of 17 under.

When looking at the Top 5 golfers, Titleist dominated in terms of ball of choice. Only 1 player played a non-Titleist golf ball. This being Chris Gotterup who tees up a Bridgestone golf ball.

1) Scottie Scheffler – Titleist Pro V1

It is over 25 years since the first Titleist Pro V1 range was introduced and their grip on the professional game still hasn’t lost its strength.

It is the most recognisable golf ball in golf and over 2/3rds of the field (69%) trusted a Titleist golf ball model.

Scottie Scheffler was one of the 69% and he chooses to play the Titleist Pro V1 – he seems to have it on a rope at the moment and though there are no guarantees it will do the same for you, there is no doubt it is recognised as a ball that can benefit all golfers – not just the low handicappers.

2) Harris English – Titleist Pro V1

Harris English had a fine week and with a closing round of 66 he cemented an outright 2nd place finish.

3) Chris Gotterup – Bridgestone Tour B X

Chris Gotterup followed up his impressive Scottish Open win with another strong week at Royal Portrush.

Haotong Li opened up with a pair of 67’s but could not keep it going into the weekend and finished off with a 69 and 70 to finish joint fourth.

His ball of choice is also the Titleist Pro V1

=4) Matt Fitzpatrick – Titleist Pro V1x

It was great to see Fitzy back in contention after struggling for most of 2025. His 71 on Saturday, whilst playing in the final group, really put paid to his challenge. He needed to go low on Sunday but closed with a 69.

He also plays a Titleist golf ball but he chooses the Pro V1x model – which spins more and launches higher than the Pro V1.

=4) Wyndham Clark – Titleist Pro V1x

After a first round 76 Wyndham Clark was battling to make the cut, never mind challenging for a top 5 finish. He then went 16 under par for the next 3 rounds, closing with a 65 on Sunday.

Like Matt Fitzpatrick, he also the Pro V1x model.
