Best golf clubs 2018: Drivers

1. Ping G400 Max

Best golf clubs 2018

This was an easy decision to make. It’s a fantastic club which produced some of the best launch monitor numbers.

It also fills me with loads of confidence, sounds and feels great, and is very forgiving.

But the clincher was the fact I was able to rely on it in club competitions where I posted some of my best-ever scores.

Some may be surprised that so many tour players – Cameron Champ and Tony Finau for example – opt for the G400 Max. I’m not one of them.

2. Titleist TS2

Best golf clubs 2018

This was released at the back end of the 2018 season but produced some very impressive launch monitor numbers.

I have put into play during a number of rounds and it is hands down the longest and best Titleist driver I have ever used. It goes miles and it still offers good distance on off-centre hits – the main thing I look for in a driver.

It could have reached No. 1 but I didn’t get the chance to use it in a competition.

3. TaylorMade M4

Best golf clubs 2018

A fantastic grip it and rip it driver. Fun and easy to use, forgiving and very stylish. If you told me I had to use this driver for the entire 2019 season I’d have no problem with that at all.

Does Twist Face work? I’d be lying if I said I’ve found it to make a massive difference. You can’t notice it at address and there’s no technology which can correct my big misses.
