4.5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

I felt like a million dollars with these on my feet. I love the classic styling and the fact that these have a premium feel.

Despite their styling, they still have modern features and technology, which can be seen by its spikeless approach. The shoes are also waterproof as a result of the Seam seal technology used.

You really do get the best of both worlds, classic styling mixed with modern technology.

PROS

  • Sneaker style but still look traditional
  • Good traction
  • Waterproof
  • Sole is comfortable

CONS

  • Reduced off-course use compare to other sneaker style shoes

J.Lindeberg Fairway Brogue Golf Shoes Review: First Impressions

These shoes have been described as being a modern take on a classic design, and I couldn’t agree more. For the more traditional golfers, this is a great option for a golf shoe that strains away from the sporty style that has become increasingly popular.

Admittedly, I tend to wear a more casual, sneaker-styled golf shoe, but I liked the smart appearance these had in comparison.

Simply put, it’s a great-looking shoe. The brogue detailing and the leather finish give it a professional feeling. You sense these shoes would be welcomed at any golf course and locker room. That’s a sense you don’t always get with sneaker-styled golf shoes.

NCG Verdict

The golf apparel landscape continues to move towards a more casual, sporty and lifestyle styling. Fewer people are wearing traditional golf clothes and shoes. But, I think we would all agree that there is space for traditional wear in golf still, and its presence should be maintained.

Practically, I found the shoes to perform well. The amount of traction these J.Lindeberg Fairway Brogue golf shoes offered was tremendous. When I tested them out, the ground was wet, so it was a fairly rigorous testing of their capabilities. At no point did I want a better grip from the shoes.

It’s a common concern for golfers, when looking for new shoes, that they may stay away from spikeless shoes out of apprehension. I, personally, don’t mind wearing spikeless shoes, at times I even prefer it. And, I have to say I was impressed with the stability I got.

They still have the comfort of a sneaker golf shoe due to their EVA Midsole and Rubber Outsole. Throughout testing, I suffered no issues with soreness or rubbing, even in slightly wet conditions.

Additionally, the waterproofing is also very good. J.Lindeberg attributes this to the use of seam seal technology and the premium waterproof full-grain leather, which is used to craft the golf shoes.

A slight drawback of the shoe is the price. It’s especially high, but you would certainly count this as a premium shoe offering.

All in all, I really like the J Lindeberg Fairway Brogue golf shoes. The classic styling and the lightweight midsole mean it is both a comfortable shoe and a great one to look at. Although the price is steep, the shoe does offer a premium feel and oozes class.

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
