DP World Tour Championship betting tips and preview
The details
Venue: Jumeirah Golf Estates, Dubai, UAE
Date: November 21-24, 2019
Course stats: Par-72, 7,830 yards
Course summary: One of the Middle-East’s best layouts but it does play fairly easily for the pros. Fairways are wide enough but bunkers need to be avoided. The final three holes are among the best on tour and water is in play on all three.
Purse: $8 million
Defending champion: Danny Willett (-18)
DP World Tour Championship betting tips: Who will win?
Patrick Reed (18/1 with bet365) is my pick of the favourites this week and his current price is very appealing.
The American is in fine form having finished inside the top 10 in three of his last four outings. He was last seen when tied for 10th at the Turkish Airlines Open but skipped last week’s trip to South Africa.
With a win already under his belt this season and a trip to the Presidents Cup fast approaching Reed will be keen to continue his form and having notched top-10 finishes in all three of his appearances here, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him contend this time.
Matt Fitzpatrick (20/1) is still in with a chance of winning the season-long Race to Dubai but he will need a win and a poor week for Bernd Wiesberger to do so.
There are plenty of pointers to suggest Fitzpatrick will go well this week before even considering his determination to challenge Wiesberger.
The Englishman has been one of the most consistent performers on the European Tour this year without sealing a victory and has continued his good form recently.
Three top 10s in his last four stars and good performances here in the past, including a win in 2016 should see him be a leading contender.
Victor Perez (55/1) has seen his season light up in the second half of 2019 with a victory at the Alfred Dunhill, and a couple of high-profile top 10s.
Perez’s game is in a good place and he should enjoy his first start in this event. He proved he has no trouble with debuts when soaring to a tied 4th in his first WGC event a few weeks ago.
The Frenchman currently leads the points list for the European Ryder Cup team and will be keen to add further to his tally before the season is out.
DP World Tour Championship betting tips: Outside shot
Guido Migliozzi (150/1) looks to be well overpriced considering his recent form and the fact that he is a two-time winner this year.
Having burst onto the scene with a win in Kenya the Italian has gone from strength to strength and despite not playing here in the past his game is in good shape.
Finishes of T21-T10-T14 in his last three outings suggest to me that there is definitely value in backing him each-way.
DP World Tour Championship betting tips: Race to Dubai outright winner
The outright Race to Dubai market doesn’t appear to offer too much value with Wiesberger, at 8/13, odds-on favourite.
Fitzpatrick (30/1) is the biggest outsider still in the running and does need the stars to align for a victory but looking at the five contenders still in the running it would have to be him or the Austrian favourite for me.
