Remote-control trollies are very much a growing trend and it’s easy to see why. It’s an almost hybrid between using a buggy and having your own caddy. You can be standing on a green and move your clubs to where you want them at the press of a button.
NAVEE have done a great job of creating a sleek looking trolley. It requires a lot of tech to make a remote trolley work and they’ve packed it all in well. The display is minimal, offering only battery percentages and speed, and for most golfers these key numbers are all they want.
It’s really simple to get up and down, fitting nicely into even a small car boot. It can be controlled via a remote or manually so you can easily swap between the two.

First Impressions
I will hold my hands up and say that yes I am pretty much a novice when it comes to remote-controlled golf trolleys. While I’ve owned and tested plenty of electric models, I almost felt like I needed some L plates on to start with as I got to grips with the NAVEE Birdie 3.
Taking it out of the box, the NAVEE Birdie 3 was very simple to set up. All of the wheels clipped in very easily and the battery slotted into the body on the trolley very nicely. I was pretty much good to go in a matter of seconds.
NCG Review
Once at the golf club it was simple putting the trolley up. One red button pretty much unlocks the whole system. You just need to move around the bag holder for it to be ready to receive your clubs.
The remote control is very lightweight. It’s got a circular dial with the stop button in the middle and the up, down, left and right arrows around it. There is a clip on the back so it can be hooked on your pocket or bag. There is a small mesh pouch below the handle so you can also store it here if you like.

I found the handling of the NAVEE Birdie 3 with the remote a little sensitive at first as I got used to how it worked. I figured this out quickly though and could adjust how much I needed to turn it or speed up/down as I went around the course.
In terms of manual handling, you adjust the speed on the digital display panel – this ranges from 1-9 kmph. I found that unlike some trollies you did have to give it a push to start this and hold in the red pedals on the handle to keep it moving. The rubber handles were comfortable to hold when doing this.
Unlike some trollies NAVEE offers a 36 hole battery as standard. They also provide a phone cradle and umbrella holder. This is great as there is a USB-c port on the handle so it’s easy to charge a device. With the Birdie 3 remote you also get a free 12-month Hole19 Premium subscription which is worth £59.99.
I ran up it up and down plenty of hills and slopes and it performed really well. There are two 11-inch tyres with plenty of grip as well as two more at the front and a stability wheel at the back. The wheel configuration means that it is really stable – if needed the stability wheel provides extra support. I was never worried about it tipping over. Navee say it can tackle up to 25 per cent inclines on a range of surface conditions, which is more than ample for anything you face on a golf course.

If you are looking to venture into the remote-control golf trolley world then the NAVEE Birdie 3 remote is a great option. It offers a sleek design that isn’t packed with GPS tech but will do a great job of getting your clubs around the course without you having to touch the trolley.
