TaylorMade Storm-Dry Waterproof Cart Bag

With the bewildering array of golf kit available these days, of which golf bags are no exception, manufacturers are often looking for a point of difference for their new products. On first appearance the TaylorMade Storm-Dry cart bag is not one of these. I do not say this in a negative way. On the contrary, my initial impression was of a good looking fully featured cart bag that will tick all the boxes in an unfussy way. It is available in a few different colours. All are attractive with the logos and contrasting elements adding interest without being too obtrusive.
First and foremost it is waterproof. There is not really a downside to having a waterproof cart bag so I would always go for this option if the budget allows. It has a nice roomy top with 14 golf club dividers one of which is double size. The putter well is huge. There are 11 pockets including 3 on each side with one being a soft-lined valuables pocket. There are the fairly standard 3 pockets on the front with a further 2 pouches on the side for quick access/drinks etc. One of these is insulated. In short, there is plenty of well-thought out storage. As expected there is a towel ring and short umbrella sleeve.

TaylorMade Signature Cart Bag

When you first see the TaylorMade Signature Cart Bag you can’t help be impressed. The matt black look (it is also available in Navy / Light Blue and Grey) with silver logos is impressive and the padded handles give a real sense of luxury.
Getting the bag out of the car was easy, with some well placed handles to help. The bag sat very securely on the trolley and was held in place via the strap pass-thru. Once set up it looked fantastic, with the matt finish giving the impression of a stealth fighter jet.
There is a great array of pockets, with some handy internal storage sections that were excellent for organising all your gear and gadgets. The cooler pocket is vast and I particularly liked the magnetic pocket at the top of the bag that gave easy access and provided a satisfying snap on closing.
PROS
- Great looks and luxurious feel
- Magnetic pocket
- Dual clips for towels / gadgets
CONS
- Material picks up marks easily

Cobra Ultralight Pro Cart Bag

As someone who likes bold colours and patterns, both in apparel and equipment, the Cobra Ultralight Pro Cart Bag ticks that box straight away – especially in the Winter Snake Camo colourway. Although not brash, it is a bag that stands out from the crowd, and for me, that’s a big positive! On taking it out of the box, you notice that style, but you also notice how incredibly light the bag is. It is called ‘Ultralight’ for a reason, as it weighs less than 3KG.
I took it out on to the course on what was possibly the last warm weekend of the summer, and I was not disappointed. Thanks to it being so light (even with all of my gear inside it), it was easy to push around the golf course, even one that has humps, bumps and severe undulations as my home club does.
As someone that is used to carrying a stand bag on their shoulders, it takes a lot for a cart bag to convince me to go back to ferrying a big bag and a trolley around in the boot of my car. However, the Cobra Ultralight Pro Cart Bag has done exactly that. It is so easy to use, has so much space and looks fantastic, why would you not want to get it out on a weekend and push your trolley around the course with that bag looking great on it?
This bag has everything you could possibly wish for from a cart bag, and it is certainly one that I will hoping to use for a very long time.
PROS
- Lightweight
- Pockets galore
- Variety of colourways
- Good price
CONS
- None

Stewart Nero 2 Cart Bag

To start with, I really like the design of the bag. All black with subtle red Stewart branding points around the bag. I personally like the black, doesn’t mark easily and looks really smart. The material is actually tour-grade synthetic leather which makes a real difference, even picking the bag out of the box you can tell the high quality of the item. It also comes with a built-in rain cover, which is from the same material, and attaches easily and quickly for those impromptu showers.

The storage of the bag is really impressive, with nine individual pockets which includes two plush velour-lined valuables pockets, large Insulated front pocket and a magnetic front pocket there is ample room for everything you need.
Overall, Stewart have created a great product in the Nero 2 Cart Bag. Looks extremely smart, plenty of storage, and useable all year around. If you are on the look out for an upgrade, I would certainly suggest taking a look at Stewart Golf’s website for bags and their impressive array of trolleys. It certainly made my life easier for a whole lot of golf played in the day.
PROS
- Vast amount of storage
- Sleek design
- Built with premium materials
CONS
- Best used on a Stewart trolley

Weighing only 2.2kg the Motocaddy Lite Series is an excellent choice for golfers seeking a lightweight, practical, and stylish cart bag.
It offers impressive storage, with 7 well designed pockets. And, it lightweight nylon make up is very durable. It has superb trolley compatibility, with an anti-twist and easilock system keeping it stable throughout the round.
Overall, making it a strong all-round performer for regular golfers.

Motocaddy PROTEKTA

The Motocaddy Protekta didn’t disappoint. Premium, waterproof materials, vast pockets and superb club organisation make it a real standout. No clanking clubs make for a peaceful round and the well placed handles make it easy to move around.
Well placed handles makes it very easy to manoeuvre the bag in and out of the car and setting up on the trolley. I liked the rubberised back that meant there was no slippage when sat on the cart.
With 10 pockets you will never be short of storage space and the main pockets are absolutely vast. They are well designed and it makes accessing all of the pockets really easy once set up. I would have preferred a double zip set up for the front pockets but the quality is superb and they seem very durable.

PROS
- Club organisation – reduces noise
- Vast storage
- Stability on the trolley
- Waterproof
- Lightweight
CONS
- Some might like some brighter colour options

Best Hybrid
MotoCaddy EliteFLEX Hybrid golf bag

I do like the hybrid concept, but it’s a tough one to pull off. The EliteFLEX is as good as anything in this category, so is worthy of serious consideration.
Although this bag is substantially heavier than my normal carry bag, the two adjustable shoulder straps are nicely padded and contoured which allowed me to obtain an extremely comfortable and balanced carry. In fact, in terms of comfort and balance, I have not tested anything better.
PROS
- Premium look and construction.
- 14-way full length dividers.
- Magnetic pockets.
- Extremely comfortable and balanced carry…
CONS
- …but, for me, heavy as a carry bag.

Big Max Dri Lite Tour 2 Cart Bag

In the world of golf bags, the cart bag often plays the laid-back sibling, less concerned with weight and more focused on packing in the features.
This is definitely the case with the Big Max Dri Lite Tour 2 Cart Bag blends functionality with style, all while fitting into that laid-back, feature-rich category.
The bag is indeed water resistant and happy to report no leakage into the pockets especially those with my valuables – car keys and phone!
PROS
- Lightweight
- Water resistant
- Plentiful pockets
- 14 way full length dividers
- Good looking and sleek
CONS
- Awkward diagonal zips
- Carrying bag with straps somewhat awkward but adjustable

Best Premium
Big Max Dri Lite Prime Golf Cart Bag

Merely describing the features of this bag does not really do it justice. It is a phenomenally well designed product. The more substantial material and clever pocket design, makes it seem a little slimmer than most cart bags without sacrificing storage.
This makes it a bit more manageable when lugging it in and out of a car or locker.
It is not cheap, but it is a premium product throughout and, in my opinion, one of the best cart bags out there.

PROS
- Great look
- Innovative storage
- Oozes quality
- Mangeable size
CONS
- Quite expensive

Best Value-for-Money
Ping Traverse 2025 Cart Bag

I put this on my electric trolley and the recesses in the base made it sit very securely. The strap pass-through channels were well positioned and allowed for a neat appearance. I do like this feature on bags.
The size of cart bags means that space is rarely an issue and the two large side pockets provide ample storage. Inside each are 2 small pockets, one with a key clip. Both side pockets have smaller zip pockets on the outside for valuables etc.
The Ping Traverse cart bag absolutely stands up to others on its own merits. It is packed with well thought-out features with great ergonomics. Add to this the amazing price and it has to be a contender for one of the best value cart bags out now.
PROS
- Good looks
- Well thought-out storage
- Fantastic value
CONS
- None

The way it sits snugly on trolleys and buggies is another real plus. You just can’t go wrong with one of these bags.

Best Features
Wilson Alpine Cart Bag

The size and appearance are fairly standard for a cart bag. The top is 11 x 9.5 inches with 14 full length dividers with a dedicated putter divider. I found the clubs went in and out particularly well with this bag which is a good start. The base has a squarish cut out allowing it to sit well in my Motocaddy trolley.
Combined with the well thought out strap pass-through system at the top, it was absolutely rock solid on the trolley. The pass-through system allows the strap to pass completely under the top of the bag although on my trolley it worked a bit better when just through the front portion. It gave it a nice clean look as well.
On either side there are 2 large apparel pockets and a soft-lined valuables pocket with a waterproof zip. I really like having 2 valuable pockets. It stops your keys scratching your phone and lets you have one pocket where you can put important stuff in and not open it until the end of the round, minimising the risk of something inadvertently falling out on the course.
These days, whatever cart bag you buy will do a pretty good job. In my opinion the Wilson Alpine cart bag is right up there in terms of features. In particular the magnetic pocket and pass-through strap features are really useful enhancements.
PROS
- Good looks
- Lots of storage
- Many clever features
- Decent price
CONS
- None

Best All-rounder
Powakaddy Edge Golf Bag

The Edge cart bag is PowaKaddy’s top of the range. It’s got premium look being made from premium lightweight vinyl and PU materials yet it still very much holds the traditional look you’d expect from PowaKaddy.
The construction means that it does come in just short of a 1kg heavier than the other options in the range.
It’s very spacious and great for a golfer who likes to be well equipped, including external putter holder, umbrella, tee pocket and much more.
PROS
- Premium material
- Lots of storage
- 14-way club divider
- Sturdy on trolley
CONS
- Much heavier than the others in the range
- Not fully waterproof

The Mag Lock on the base works alongside the Powakaddy trolley range to keep your bag locked in and stable throughout the round.
Overall, a spacious cart bag that does everything you’d want.
