In the world of golf bags, the cart bag often plays the laid-back sibling, less concerned with weight and more focused on packing in the features. Unlike stand bags, which are judged for their compactness and portability, cart bags have the luxury of space and are typically expected to offer maximum convenience without the fuss. Enter the Big Max Dri Lite Tour 2 Cart Bag, a model that promises to blend functionality with style, all while fitting into that laid-back, feature-rich category. This review will dive into this bag to see how it stacks up on the course, exploring its design, performance, and whether it truly lives up to the hype. So, let’s get cracking with Big Max Dri Lite Tour 2 cart bag review…

First Impressions

I am like a kid at Christmas when I get new golf gear! As I get older I am more in favour of cart bags and this bag does not disappoint!

This sleek black and white cart bag has an impressive 10 pockets! 2 smaller slit pockets on both sides at the top, 2 large diagonal pockets on the sides and 3 front pockets for balls, tees and a large and deep drinks cooler pocket.

There is even a pocket at the back for the straps in case you wish not to use them!

This bag tips the scales at 7.2 lbs however lifting this bag no matter how much stuff you can squeeze in should be no problem and there are 4 handles to help – the top rubberised grip handles are sturdy as well as the main carrying handle at the front.

There is a handle at the back for lifting in an out of the car boot and a small cup handle and the base.

The bag has 14 way full length dividers with a large front space for your putter with an umbrella holder as well.

The Dri Lite Tour 2 bag is made of water-resistant material with waterproof zips. It is touted to be useful in all types of weather – we shall see if the English weather will agree!

The zips look sturdy and hopefully will last the life of the bag ( an annoyance if having the zips fail on an otherwise good bag!!).

The towel holder looks quite sturdy and also doubles as a bottle opener for those keen on carrying beverages onto the links!

On course performance

I tested the bag at my local course.  Carrying bag to and from car not particularly comfortable at first but a quick adjustment to the straps sorted that.

Lifting into and out of the car however is easily facilitated by the large sturdy handles top and bottom. This bag fits securely to trolleys from other brands – I tested two, including the Big Max Trio Blade.

Pockets are plentiful and accommodate all that you need, particularly in cold or wet weather, certainly a full set of waterproofs in the large pockets is no problem at all.

There is more than enough space for balls, tees etc. in the front pockets.

Zipping up the diagonal pockets is somewhat awkward. The top 4 smaller pockets are thin and will hold gloves, phones but struggle with larger bulkier items.

I experienced some light showers during the round and had to fit the surprisingly large rain hood which accommodates and protects all the clubs which are easily accessible.

The bag is indeed water resistant and happy to report no leakage into the pockets especially those with my valuables – car keys and phone!

Fully loaded it stands upright and stable when stored. I mention this because annoyingly other cart bags I have preciously owned  tended to topple over when all the gear is loaded!

Final Thoughts

A great cart bag period! The evolution of golf bags and cart bags has certainly seen bags that are greatly more functional and lighter. Storage capacity has improved and the additional benefit of waterproofing has satisfied a long held demand especially here in the British Isles where the weather can change unpredictably during a round of golf!

The Big Max Dri Lite Tour 2 cart bag ticks all the boxes for functionality, good looks , acceptable size and weight, storage and additional features. It will make a fine addition to your golfing equipment.
