There is something classy about pulling on a Lyle & Scott polo.

It’s a brand that speaks to tradition, but for their 2026 spring and summer, that familiar golden eagle comes with a sharper, more contemporary edge.

For many, summer golf is all about early tee times, warm fairways and evenings that stretch long past the final putt. To match the more relaxed vibe, this collection looks to bridge the gap between performance wear and everyday style.

Here’s closer look at some our personal favourites…

Lyle & Scott Cotton Tipped ¼ Zip Jumper

5 star review
Lyle & Scott Cotton Tipped Quarter Zip jumper | Source: NCG
Lyle & Scott Cotton Tipped Quarter Zip jumper | Source: NCG

This has a really smart, clean look to it and feels more premium than a standard golf jumper. The fit is slim without feeling tight, so it gives quite a professional look on the course.

I really liked the small colour detail on the shoulders, subtle but makes it look a bit different from a plain black jumper. The eagle logo is nice too, so it keeps the overall look quite sleek.

It’s made from breathable cotton, so it feels soft and comfortable while still giving enough warmth for cooler rounds. The quarter zip is useful for layering and adjusting depending on the temperature.

One thing that stood out for me was the sleeve length. I’m 6’4 and usually struggle with sleeves being too short, but these fit properly which made a big difference. I wore a medium and it fit perfectly.

Overall, a really smart jumper that works just as well off the course too.

PROS

  • Smart, premium look
  • Comfortable fit with good sleeve length
  • Nice subtle detailing

CONS

  • Slimmer fit may not suit everyone

Lyle & Scott Argyle Print Golf Polo

I really liked this polo. The pattern gives it something a bit different without being over the top, and the colour contrast works really well, I would say it’s modern but still classic enough to wear anywhere.

The material has a really nice feel to it. It’s lightweight, breathable and stretchy, so it moves well through the swing and stays comfortable over a full round. The regular fit sits nicely too – not too slim, not too loose.

One thing Lyle & Scott do well is combine a heritage golf look with slightly more modern styling, and this polo feels like a good example of that. It looks smart on the course but could easily be worn casually after your round.

Overall, a really solid polo that is a new favourite – comfortable, stylish and easy to wear.

PROS

  • Comfortable stretch fabric
  • Great colour contrast and subtle pattern
  • Lightweight and breathable

CONS

  • Patterned style may not suit everyone

Lyle & Scott V Neck Argyle Vest

4 star review
Lyle & Scott Cotton V Neck Argyle Vest | Source: NCG
Lyle & Scott Cotton V Neck Argyle Vest | Source: NCG

I have to be honest and say this one probably wasn’t fully for me, although I did get quite a few positive comments, with people saying it was nice to see the sweater vest making a comeback.

I probably made a mistake pairing it with the matching patterned polo underneath. Next time I’d definitely wear it with something plain and let the vest be the standout piece instead.

That said, it did exactly what you’d want from this type of layer. It felt soft, comfortable and provided that extra bit of warmth you often need during spring golf in the UK, and it didn’t feel too bulky or restrictive.

The fit was good, and the V-neck style works well over a polo. The classic argyle design also gives it a more traditional golf look. The cotton blend fabric keeps it lightweight and breathable, so it’s easy to wear over a full round.

Overall, while it’s not something I’d wear every week, I can definitely see why people like this style and it felt like I had stepped into the Faldo era!.

PROS

  • Lightweight extra layer for cooler days
  • Really good quality material
  • Retro styling will appeal to many

CONS

  • Styling takes a bit more confidence to pull off

Lyle & Scott Performance ¼ Zip Jumper

5 star review
Lyle & Scott Performance 1/4 zip jumper | Source: NCG
Lyle & Scott Performance 1/4 zip jumper | Source: NCG

Kicking things off with a standout piece from my summer wardrobe, I had the pleasure of trying the performance ¼ zip from Lyle & Scott. With its recognisable golden eagle logo, it looks just as good off the course as it does on it.

This has quickly become a favourite. It’s versatile, easy to wear, and the medium fits me perfectly. The cotton and merino blend make it ideal for slightly cooler days, offering warmth without feeling heavy. I particularly like the zip, which allows for great temperature control depending on conditions. The regular fit is spot on and works well both during a round and casually.

It’s a piece I’d highly recommend, perfect for golf but just as easy to pair with jeans for a relaxed, everyday look – there also 4 colour choices if you prefer something a little lighter or brighter.

  • Good colour choices
  • Versatile

Lyle & Scott Cotton Blend V-Neck Jumper

Adding another classic to the rotation, I tried the V-neck jumper from Lyle & Scott, a brand with heritage dating back to 1874 and known for its iconic golden eagle logo.

I liked this just as much as the quarter-zip. The V-neck design gives it a really smart, classic look and works perfectly layered over a polo. It feels slightly more traditional, which I enjoy, but still modern enough for off-course wear.

The medium was a great fit, comfortable, easy to move in, and not too loose. The cotton and merino blend is soft, breathable, and ideal for cooler conditions.

Finished with the embroidered eagle logo, it’s a stylish and versatile piece I’d happily recommend.

Lyle & Scott Cotton Crew Neck Argyle Jumper

I must confess, I don’t tend to go with classic golf clothes. They haven’t really appealed to me. I have always opted for more casual golfwear and with that hoodies are usually my go-to for an extra layer. But this crewneck from Lyle & Scott may have swayed me on that.

The design looks mega. Lyle & Scott describe it as classical and purposeful, a summary I would agree with. When non-golfers think of golf, this is what I would imagine they would think we all wear. What also really stood out to me is how comfortable it is to wear. The fit is regular, so it isn’t too tight and it isn’t too baggy.

In short, this might be the perfect over layer for a golf polo. I have found that some hoodies, jumpers and other midlayers can be a tight and uncomfortable around the neck, but this has no such issues.

PROS

  • Looks great
  • Extremely comfortable
  •  Makes you look like a golfer, and feel like a golfer

  • None

Lyle & Scott Cross Print Polo

5 star review

Lyle & Scott Cross Print Golf Polo | Source: NCG

This is a new favourite polo for me! Lyle & Scott is a pretty well-known heritage golf brand with a lot of history, this polo adds a modern edge to that, which I like.

It feels great quality as soon as you put it on. It’s lightweight and breathable, which made it comfortable for a full round on a sunny day. The fit is modern but not too tight, so would suit most people. I think it looks smart without feeling restrictive. It works well tucked in to give a smarter look on the course.

The fabric is really nice against your skin and has a bit of stretch which helps with movement through the swing.

The pattern is subtle, which I loved, it’s a bit more interesting than a plain polo but still pretty classic. The logo is small and simple, so everyone knows where it is from without it being in your face.

Overall, it’s a really easy polo to wear, comfortable, good quality and looks sharp on the course.

PROS

  • Lightweight and breathable
  • Comfortable fit with good stretch
  • Subtle but different design

Lyle & Scott Lightweight Stretch Jacket

5 star review
Lyle & Scott Lightweight Packable Golf Jacket | Source: NCG
Lyle & Scott Lightweight Packable Golf Jacket | Source: NCG

This is a really good lightweight jacket that’s perfect for when it’s a bit breezy but not cold enough for a full layer.

It’s really light and easy to wear, and the packable design is useful as well, you can just keep it in your golf bag and throw it on when you need it. It’s also water-resistant, so it gives you a bit of protection if the weather turns.

The fit is good and allows you to move freely through the swing without feeling restricted. One thing I really liked was the sleeve length. I’m 6’4 and usually struggle with sleeves being too short, but these fit properly which made a big difference.

It’s a simple, clean design with the logo on the chest, so it looks smart without being too much.

Overall, a really useful jacket that is easy to wear, practical and something you’d use a lot.

PROS

  • Lightweight and easy to pack
  • Good sleeve length (especially for taller players)
  • Comfortable with full movement

CONS

  • Not designed for colder conditions

Lyle & Scott Men’s 2026 Tipped Cotton Knitted Breathable Golf Polo Shirt | Source: NCG

Rounding things off, I tried the Lyle & Scott polo, and it’s a nice twist on the standard golf shirt.

The wool blend really stands out, giving it a slightly warmer feel while still being breathable and comfortable. It feels premium and works well for those in-between days.

I also like that it’s designed to be worn untucked, giving it a more relaxed but still smart look. The fit is comfortable enough for all-day wear, both on and off the course.

Finished with the classic eagle logo, it’s a stylish alternative to a traditional polo.

PROS

  • Comfortable
  • Smart design
  • Slightly warmer than standard polos

CONS

  • Knitted style might not be for all
  • Only 2 colour choices

RRP: £75.00

Sizes: XS-XXL

Colours: Dark navy and black

Summary

As expected, Lyle & Scott continues to deliver a range that feels timeless, functional and easy to wear in any setting.

They are a big brand both in and outside of golf. There is no over complication of thing here and that’s exactly its strength.

It’s understated golfwear, done exceptionally well, and perfectly suited to the modern player.

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
