Under Armour

Under Armour Drive Lightweight ½ Zip

4.5 star review

The Under Armour Drive Lightweight 1/2 zip is a great option if you’re looking for a comfortable, modern layer that works well both on and off the course. It’s designed to give you a bit of extra warmth without adding any bulk, and the lightweight fabric feels really easy to wear throughout a full round. The brushed material is soft against the skin while still being breathable, so you stay comfortable even as conditions change.

I found the overall fit to be really clean and athletic without feeling restrictive at all. The 4-way stretch makes a noticeable difference during the swing, allowing for complete freedom of movement, while the added water-resistant finish is a nice bonus if you get caught in light rain.

The modern styling really stands out too, with the zip design and subtle detailing giving it a sleek look. It’s a versatile, comfortable piece that fits easily into any golf wardrobe.

PROS

  • Great Price
  • Modern Style
  • Comfortable

CONS

  • Maybe some more colour choices?

Under Armour UA Drive Midlayer Pullover

4.5 star review
Under Armour Drive Midlayer Pullover | Source: NCG
Under Armour Drive Midlayer Pullover | Source: NCG

Under Armour is now a well established brand for golf shoes and apparel. The brand offers well  made fitting golf gear packed with features such as UV protection, stretch materials all wrapped in a  styling package for golfers keen on good looks and performance.

This quarter zip pullover in Refresh Mint is great golf layering option. It provides performance comfort and is a soft stretchy mid layer.

The fabric is sweat-wicking and fast drying. It will allow playing a round of golf without feeling clammy at the end. The branding is quite minimalist with a single logo at the bottom of the zip. I found this to be an attractive mid layer which was surprisingly warm on the cool spring morning of the review.

The 4 way stretch material with the loose cut allows easy movement. This is a reliable mid layer with a comfort first design.

This mid layer fits true to size with a relaxed rather than a fitted look. I expect that it will be a constant  feature in my golf attire this spring!

I especially like the soft feel of the fabric and the ease of movement and comfortable fit. This will be my go to grab and go quarter zip!

PROS:

  • Stylish mid layer
  • Good warmth performance
  • Comfortable fit

CONS:

  • Not wind or rain resistant

RRP: £65 / $80

Sizes: XS-XXXL

Colours: Blue Atlantis, Black, Downpour Grey/Gravel/Black, Midnight Navy and Enamel Blue/Refresh Mint

Under Armour Men’s Matchplay Quarter Zip Golf Mid Layer

5 star review

I think quarter zips are very much the bread and butter of golf clothing. The weather can often be unpredictable so it’s important to layer up appropriately even during spring and summer. I have owned and tested plenty of mid layers and this offering from Under Armour had plenty of the desirable qualities that make a great quarter zip.

It is very versatile; I would be just as happy wearing this casually or even to the gym as I would on the golf course. Additionally, it is ideal for summer use. Under Armour have equipped the Matchplay quarter zip golf mid layer skin protection capabilities with the UPF 50 technology working to protect the skin from harmful sun rays.

Callaway Odyssey Printed Block Pullover

5 star review
Callaway Odyssey Printed Block Pullover | Source: NCG
Callaway Odyssey Printed Block Pullover | Source: NCG

The Callaway Odyssey Printed Block pullover is a light quarter-zip top. I played in it when it was a little chilly and it kept me warm despite its minimal weight. The brushed fabric feels great and no doubt adds to the warmth. It is made with opti-dri wicking material which can help to keep you cool and dry when necessary.

The swing-tech fabric allows for freedom of movement. It is a really versatile top that could also be used as a mid-layer. Because of this, it is the sort of top I keep in or around my kit all the time. The upper pattern is interesting but not garish. Callaway and Odyssey logos finish off the decoration. I cannot get enough of these tops and at a reasonable price this is highly recommended.

The Callaway 1/2 Zip Golf Wind Jacket is part of the Spring Summer 2026 release. A dependable outer layer ideal for the more unpredictable weather days out on the golf course.

First impressions are it looks really smart. A clean design with subtle branding pieces it is easily worn both on and off the golf course. The half zip design is both practical and stylish, it lends for a quick layering option over a polo or mid layer as well as quick ventilation.

It is built with lightweight material making it easily stored in your golf bag, but also a great layering option for those cooler days. Mobility of the garment is also unnoticeable throughout your round of golf.

Sourced from Italy’s well-known Zegan Baruffa mill, the wool is incredibly soft and smooth, making it comfortable to wear.

It’s also naturally antimicrobial, so it stays fresh even after hours of play, and as it is made to resist pilling it should look good for longer.

The fabric has a natural stretch and memory, so it keeps its shape no matter how much I move or bend during my swing.

I appreciated the classic design with a ribbed mock neck, cuffs, and hem, which adds a stylish touch. It’s warm enough for cooler days (probably too lightweight for cold winter days) but breathable enough to stay comfortable.

Overall, this sweater feels high-quality, fits well, and looks great both on and off the course. A true all-rounder for any golfer.

B.Draddy Cool Colt Pullover

5 star review

Here we test the golfing staple midlayer in the form of the Cool Colt Pullover. This is a lightweight garment constructed from a ceramic-coated yarn which is an 87% nylon / 13% spandex mix. It is a quarter-zip pullover with elasticated cuffs and hem. It offers a relaxed but tailored fit, is stretchy, breathable and moisture wicking. There is a textured finish to the fabric which adds visual interest, and, according to B.Draddy, helps to keep you cool.

I tested the version in medium which fitted perfectly so it runs true to size. Five sizes are offered. There’s also a choice of six colours. My Nauti (navy) pullover had a contrasting mint collar and zip which looked very stylish.

On the course, I have worn this as a second layer, over a polo. It’s not the most insulating midlayer but is easy to wear beneath a vest or insulating jacket. It has a lovely soft and stretchy feel that makes it a delight to wear. And due to the only logo being on the zipper pull, the Cool Colt will also look the part off the course.

This is very much a premium, top-end product and it does come at a premium price. If you do take the plunge, then I’d expect you to be delighted with your purchase, and for it to be a staple in your wardrobe, both golfing and leisure.

PROS

  • Premium construction and fit.
  • Flexible layering piece.
  • Great choice of colours.

Castore Men’s Golf LVS Quarter Zip Long Sleeve Top

5 star review
Castore Men’s Golf LVS Quarter Zip Long Sleeve Top | Source: NCG
Castore Men’s Golf LVS Quarter Zip Long Sleeve Top | Source: NCG

Modern clothing technology is marvellous, isn’t it? I’d need a boffin to explain how Castore have managed to make their LVS Quarter Zip Long Sleeve top so light, yet so effective in windy conditions but suffice to say it is a triumph – a layer that will give you good protection and is still compact enough to easily fit in your golf bag without adding any weight.

I tested this with a number of layers, and on its own, and the layered ventilation system technology – designed to help with temperature regulation – does a great job. I didn’t feel too warm when combined with other clothing, or too cold without them.

The fit is a little snugger than you might expect to get with a more traditional mid-layer, but it moves very freely through the swing, despite the polyamide fabric having a certain rigidness at the touch.

It’s very breathable, whatever you partner it with, and it’s bound to be a feature of my spring and autumn golf wardrobe.

Castore Golf Club Classic 1/4 Zip Top

4.5 star review

This is a great look both on and off the course, offering versatile style.

It kept me comfortable and warm during play, thanks to its lightweight design that didn’t interfere with my swing. The fit was sleek and stylish, making it perfect for casual wear.

However, the only downside was that I normally wear a large, and the Castore in large felt a bit too fitted and snug. It might be uncomfortable for those who prefer a looser fit or plan to layer underneath.

Overall, it looks sharp off the course, but for active on-course use, consider sizing up if you prefer more room or layers.

The quality and style are excellent, making it a smart addition to any wardrobe.

PROS:

  • My wife liked it, so could easily where on and off the course
  • Stylish
  • Flexibility in the material to allow for swing movement

G/FORE

G/Fore Cooling Cotton ¼ Zip Jumper

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

The G/FORE Cooling Cotton 1/4 Zip Jumper is a premium option that really stands out if you’re looking for something a bit more elevated both on and off the course. It’s definitely priced as a higher-end piece, but you can feel that in the quality straight away. The cooling performance cotton is incredibly soft and comfortable, while still being breathable and moisture-wicking, so it works just as well in warmer conditions as it does layer up on cooler days.

I found this to be a really versatile mid-layer that you could wear for a full round and then straight into the clubhouse or even off the course without needing to change. The fit is clean and modern without being restrictive, and the stretch in the fabric allows for a smooth, unrestricted swing.

The overall finish feels very premium too, with subtle detailing and a smart look. It’s an investment piece, but one that justifies its price through performance and quality.

G/FORE Brushed Back Tech Quarter Zip

5 star review

G/FORE have just launched their new winter range, and I had the pleasure of trying out the Brushed Back Tech ¼ Zip Pullover. From the moment I put it on, I could tell it was quality. The fabric feels lightweight yet well insulated, made from brushed back tech terry with moisture-wicking properties to keep you comfortable throughout your round.

As they say, it’s all about layers, and this one delivers. It felt great to wear and really did the trick on a cold, windy day. I paired it with a G/FORE polo and gilet, and I was perfectly toasty.

The pullover is stylishand comes in a range of colours: Daybreak, Light Grey Melange, Onyx, Snow, andTwilight. I went for the Light Grey, which paired perfectly with my Onyx trousers and gilet. It’s available in sizes Small through XXL. I’m six foot and usually wear a slim fit; the medium gave me a comfortable, slightly loose fit, ideal for freedom of movement when swinging a golf club.

This is a must-have addition to any golfer’s wardrobe this winter. Having not owned any G/FORE clothing before, I’m genuinely impressed by the quality and design of their range, it might just become my new go-to brand for golf apparel.

G/FORE Brushed Back Tech Quarter Zip

GFORE Contrast Mesh Silky Tech Nylon Quarter Zip Pullover | Source: NCG
GFORE Contrast Mesh Silky Tech Nylon Quarter Zip Pullover | Source: NCG

This is a really interesting pullover from Gfore. The texture is incredibly lightweight, made from a silky tech nylon. Putting it on first thing in the morning the fabric was cold you can tell this will cool you down in the summer months.

It has two front pockets that act as a kangroo pouch. I wore it in a medium, I tend to be a UK 8/10 but this was a nice fit.

I’m 5ft 9 and found it was a little shorter on the body some of my other midlayers but it still looked nice. It also has UPF 50+ defence so great for summer golf especially with the mesh panellings.

Lyle & Scott Performance 1/4 zip jumper | Source: NCG

Kicking things off with a standout piece from my summer wardrobe, I had the pleasure of trying the performance ¼ zip from Lyle & Scott. With its recognisable golden eagle logo, it looks just as good off the course as it does on it.

This has quickly become a favourite. It’s versatile, easy to wear, and the medium fits me perfectly. The cotton and merino blend make it ideal for slightly cooler days, offering warmth without feeling heavy. I particularly like the zip, which allows for great temperature control depending on conditions. The regular fit is spot on and works well both during a round and casually.

It’s a piece I’d highly recommend, perfect for golf but just as easy to pair with jeans for a relaxed, everyday look – there also 4 colour choices if you prefer something a little lighter or brighter.

Ping Latham Half Zip Midlayer

5 star review
Ping Latham midlayer | Source: NCG
Ping Latham midlayer | Source: NCG

I absolutely love a midlayer. They are the most versatile pice of golf clothing. As a consequence, the PING Latham Half Zip Midlayer is right up my tree.  It combines all the modern technology you would expect from this type of garment (lightweight, warm, stretchy) with a sleek modern look.

It is extremely comfortable and, with the stretch, provides unrestricted movement when swinging a club. I think these are great for wearing in the summer if it is cooler or as part of multi-layering in cold weather.

If you need a mid-layer (and everyone does) then check out the PING Latham from the SS26 range. There are multiple colours and sizes, so you should find one to your taste.

Puma

Pure 3.0 Texture ¼ Zip Golf Sweater

5 star review

There is absolutely something to be said for keeping things simple and not going over the top on the extravagance scale. This is precisely what the Puma Pure 3.0 texture ¼ zip golf sweater does. It is hardly even a sweater either, as that would suggest a degree of heaviness and weight to this piece of apparel. It is very light and very breathable, which is exactly what you want in a long sleeve garment at this time of the year.

The colourway is also simple – it’s just black. It’s not floral, it’s not chequered – it is just black, which will please boring golfers like me to no end. The 4-way stretch fabric offers complete freedom of movement, and it barely feels like you have anything on your back. It is super light, and very comfortable. If you are looking for a ¼ zip this summer for decent value as well, there is no need to look any further, as £49.99 is more than reasonable.

Puma CLOUDSPUN Tech Hybrid Golf Quarter-Zip Midlayer

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

I really liked the colour scheme of this Puma Cloudspun Tech Hybrid Golf Quarter-Zip. The cross between light blur and navy blue is really pleasing to look at and even better to wear. Puma has absolutely nailed it in this regard, and this will prove a staple of my wardrobe in the coming months. It won’t keep you that dry in the harshest conditions, but I don’t think that it is meant to. It guarantees style with some substance and warmth.

The padded style around the breast area felt a little tight when I first put it on, but this was a small inconvenience, and it didn’t restrict my swing or take away from my performance. This is a really solid bit of kit and I am a sucker for a smart quarter-zip. If you are too, then this is exactly what you should be looking for.

Puma Waffle Fleece ¼ zip

4 star review

The PUMA Fleece Golf Quarter-Zip is an interesting piece of golf clothing. If you are looking for a completely inoffensive layer that will both keep you warm and is suitable for a game of golf in the Spring and Summer, then you will not have any complaints with this. The design is solid and there is a good range of colours to choose from which you’d think would meet the favour of most golfers.

This fleece is roomy and comfortable, so there are many boxes ticked. I wouldn’t say it’s outside of the box or extravagant, but this might suit golfers who aren’t looking to make a statement when they rock up to the Sunday medal.

PROS:

  • Very solid and basic design
  • Range of different colours
  • Comfortable and roomy

Glenmuir g,Wick Quarter Zip Lightweight Performance Golf Midlayer | Source: NCG

The long summer evenings bring extended golf opportunities but when the heat goes out of the sun you need to be prepared with mid-layers to keep you warm. This market is pretty saturated with all brands providing their option for a quarter zip to pull on.

Glenmuir have really hit the mark with their offering. The top is incredibly lightweight and a great design. The stretch capabilities make it instantly move with your swing and it is incredibly comfortable. The material provides a thin barrier that is just right when you need something to take the edge off the cold. However, this will not keep you warm in cooler conditions, without the appropriate layering to go on top.

With some great detailing around the zip and collar, Glenmuir have produced a great option for anyone who wants a go to quarter zip this summer.

Mizuno Elevated Warm Quarter Zip

The Elevated Warm Quarter Zip is part of Mizuno’s 2026 apparel release. It is available in four different colourways, all of which are smart and wearable both on and off the golf course. The design of the garment is really clean, subtle Mizuno branding spots on the neck and arm, plus clean colour panel variations.

The fabric is soft to wear, and offers a comfortable stretch allowing for a full range of motion throughout your swing. The material is thick making it a great option for cooler days, or a quality layering piece throughout winter golf.

Overall, this is a great option for your golfing wardrobe this year, looks smart on and off the course and is extremely comfortable. It will definitely be getting plenty of use from me both on the golf course and day to day wear.

PROS

  • Incredibly comfortable
  • Built to be golfed in thanks to the stretchy material
  • Useable all-year round

The Tempo Tech Midlayer is part of the FJ TempoSeries range which also comprises a lightweight vest, a hoodie and a full-zip jacket. I think this ¼ zip midlayer is the best of the bunch. It is constructed from a polyester 88%, elastane 12% blend which produces a fabric that is designed to be stretchy, durable and lightweight. It is also moisture wicking and has a DWR finish to provide some protection against light rain.

The fit is a nicely tailored and yet relaxed. It comes in six sizes and three colours. I tested the version in medium size and Forest Green colour. It fitted true to size and the Forest Green looked on point.

Elasticated cuffs and hem enhance the fit. There are a couple of zippered side pockets that meet in the middle. I’m not sure I’d use them for anything, but they are unobtrusive. The fabric has a texture to the side panels and arms that offers a bit of visual interest. There is an FJ logo to the left front collar and the upper back. I would have preferred just one.

On the course it is a delight to wear because it is so stretchy and lightweight. It wouldn’t function as a standalone midlayer on cooler days, but I think it will be a staple for me in our cool shoulder season UK weather because it is so easy to layer over and under. It also stows away compactly should the conditions allow.

It is a little on the pricey side but because it is equally suited to on and off course activities, I think it represents decent value, and it comes highly recommended.

PROS

  • Excellent layering piece.
  • Quality construction.
  • Stows away easily.

CONS

  • Nothing.

FootJoy ThermoSeries Jacquard Midlayer

5 star review

The midlayer is a staple garment for the avid golfer and this latest release from FootJoy, part of their ThermoSeries range, is a winner.

I have to say that when ThermoSeries first landed a few years ago, I was somewhat underwhelmed by the product. It was certainly good quality gear but didn’t offer outstanding warmth. This has all changed with the Jacquard midlayer which comes in a range of three colours.

I tested the version in Navy/Slate in medium. It looks smart and stylish and offers first class insulation thanks to the construction. The main body of the midlayer is made from a warm and quite thick material with a textured pattern. The upper back, shoulders and sleeves is made from a different more stretchy material (polyester/elastane). This produces a comfortable warm layer with excellent stretch properties.

I’ve tended to wear it over a polo shirt, and possibly beneath a gilet. I’ve not yet had to put a waterproof layer over this, but I think it would work better with a thin, shell type of waterproof.

At £95 RRP, I think it is reasonably priced, particularly as it is suitable for off course use as well.

PROS:

  • Smart & comfortable
  • Excellent thermal properties.
  • Breathable

CONS:

  • A tad on the bulky side

TravisMathew Cloud Quarter Zip

5 star review

TravisMathew Cloud sweater quarter zip | Source: NCG
TravisMathew Cloud sweater quarter zip | Source: NCG

The Cloud Quarter Zip is constructed from a beautifully soft fabric which is a polyester/cotton/elastane mix. TravisMathew calls the fabric FiberCloud, and it is part of their so-called Elevated Comfort Collection.

There is no doubt that it is a wonderfully comfortable midlayer. It is quite lightweight so I have worn it as a second layer over a polo. It is very easy to layer over if you need extra warmth or waterproofing against the elements.

TravisMathew seem to do ‘tailored yet relaxed’ as well as anyone and this piece is no exception. The fit is enhanced by elasticated cuffs and hem. There is choice of 13 colours and six sizes so they have everything covered with the Cloud Quarter Zip.

My medium size in Heather Medium Grey fitted nicely and looked great. There is minimal logoing with an ‘M’ at the left breast and an unobtrusive signature just below the back collar. This allows you to use the Cloud Quarter Zip for a variety of activities.

It comes highly recommended, and with significant discounts offered in some colours, hurry to grab a bargain!

PROS

  • Quality construction and comfort.
  • Excellent fit.
  • Huge choice of colours

CONS

  • Not the warmest midlayer

TravisMathew Highway Quarter Zip

5 star review

A bit like the Wanderlust Gilet, the Highway Quarter Zip has a very smart look in black, and will look great when playing in the winter months. Boringly, I like dark-coloured golf clothing. It is risk-free, reliable and doesn’t show dirt as much as something white or light-coloured.

The wrists and the waist are made of the same banded, tight material which some people might not be a fan of. However, this is a minor detail about a piece of clothing that would fit the bill of many a wardrobe. It is stylish and what might stand out to people is the fact that you can wear it out and about. This Highway Quarter Zip isn’t exclusively a golf top and can be worn pretty much anywhere, I’d say.

There are no comfort issues, and it is just an all-rounder of a quarter-zip. This one can bat, field, bowl and probably do a stint keeping wicket too. It is that good, and not horrifically priced either.

TravisMathew Cloud 2.0 Quarter Zip

5 star review

I am extremely happy that I was chosen to review this item of clothing because it is the exact sort of thing I both want and need.

The Cloud 2.0 quarter zip is a very classic understated ¼ zip jumper that can be worn with almost anything during the winter.

The fabric is very soft and warm which is 50% of the way there, and on top of that it also looks great which gets you 100% of the way there to being an item of clothing I will wear constantly for at least the next year.

I am a big fan of the grey colour as it can combo nicely with several different trousers. If you’re as much of a fan of this style of jumper then I would highly recommend this jumper.

TravisMathew Wanderlust ¼ Zip

5 star review

The TravisMathew brand was born in California in 2007 with the aim of creating golf gear for those seeking ultimate comfort with relaxed styling and a modern fit. It was bought by Callaway in 2017 and has been worn by the likes of Jon Rahm, when he won The Masters and US Open, as well as other Callaway staffers including Sam Burns and Akshay Bhatia. It’s also found favour with the likes of actors including Chris Pratt and Adam Sandler.

The Wanderlust ¼ zip is also available as a vest or jacket (full zip) but I think the ¼ zip is the best of the bunch. It is constructed from a polyester 88%, spandex 12% blend and TM call it Wanderlust which is a woven micro-ripstop designed to be stretchy, durable and lightweight. This fabric also appears in the Wanderlust shorts, but I think it’s particularly suited to this ¼ zip midlayer.

The fit is a cool blend of tailored and yet relaxed. It comes in six sizes and four colours. I tested the version in medium size and dark indigo colour. It fitted true to size and the dark indigo, aka dark blue, suited perfectly.

Elasticated cuffs and hem enhance the fit. There are a couple of unzippered side pockets that I suppose could house a few tees but not much else. The Wanderlust fabric has a grid structure that offers a bit of visual interest. There is an unobtrusive logo to the left breast – see the pictures in the carousel above.

On the course it is a delight to wear because it is so stretchy and lightweight. It wouldn’t function as a standalone midlayer on cooler days, but it has already become a firm favourite for me in our cool early season UK weather because it is so easy to layer over and under.

It is a little on the pricey side but because it is equally suited to on and off course activities, I think it represents decent value, and it comes highly recommended.

PROS:

  1. Flexible use.
  2. Excellent layering piece.
  3. Quality construction.

Sunderland

Sunderland Colorado Midlayer

5 star review

I think this might be my favourite midlayer of the year. Having never worn Sunderland apparel before I was pleasantly surprised and am now a Sunderland convert!

For me, apparel is more about fit and feel than jazzy designs and big logoes. Bascically, if it fits (especially with trousers), I am a fan! This midlayer was true to size and so no need to size up or down.

That being said, this Colorado midlayer provides you with more than just a good fit. It provides good warmth, yet is lightweight, and does not restrict when swinging the golf club. There is a draw cord at the bottom if you wished to adjust the fit.

All in all, a great midlayer that comes highly recommend.

Lululemon

Lululemon Metal Vent Tech Half Zip

4.5 star review

I actually really liked this top, even if it is more of a thin/athletic fit – not my normal choice!

It’s quite thin and fits snugly, kind of like a base layer. It’s perfect for layering under a gilet or sweater, especially on cooler days. I wouldn’t recommend wearing it on its own in winter since it’s pretty thin.

The fabric is breathable, so I stayed comfortable whilst playing golf shots and walking during the round.

I also appreciated the UV protection, which is great for sunnier days.

Overall, it’s a slim, lightweight top that works well as a layering piece and offers good sun protection. It’s ideal for warmer weather or layering in cooler conditions.

PROS

  • Great layering piece
  • Breathable
  • UV protection

CONS

  • Slim fit might not be for all

Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein Atlantic Hybrid Half Zip

5 star review

Calvin Klein are known for their premium golf wear and it is fair to say they have worked their magic again here. The Atlantic hybrid half zip is a fantastic mid layer option for both on and off course use due to its modern styling. I personally love a fleece-styled mid layer and can 100% see myself wearing this casually day-to-day.

I have reviewed a few Calvin Klein golf products and what is noticeable is how soft the material is. Despite summer fast approaching it can still get a little chilly out of the golf course and this fleece mid layer is a great option for when those temperatures drop on an evening round of golf after work. Additionally, it is also very practical offering full athletic stretch through the golf swing.

Ted Baker

Ted Baker Half Zip Midlayer

5 star review

Although Ted Baker closed all their UK stores in August 2024, it is good to see that they are still bringing new products to market. Not best known for golf products, they have really hit the mark with this Half Zip Midlayer.

Available in Navy Blue or Grey, the top fits really well, providing warmth and the stretch fabric allows movement to enable a comfortable swing.

There is a very useful chest pocket that is ideal for a scorecard and the elasticated cuffs prevent the sleeves from riding up through your swing.

I loved the print detailing around the zip / collar, along with the subtle branding on the chest. All of this makes this a top a great option for those needing a quality midlayer.

Adidas

Adidas Go-To Printed Quarter Zip

4.5 star review

Adidas have just brought out the new Go-To Printed Quarter-Zip Sweatshirt. It comes in Navy / Green and Aurora Ruby / Brown, I had the Navy / Green. Think I would have preferred the Ruby / Brown, as it’s much more my colours. I found the Navy and green a little too much.

As far as the mid layers go, it was great, really comfy, soft, stretchy and moves with you as you swing. It’s made from 85% polyester (recycled), 15% elastane, hence why it’s so comfy and probably quite good in a light rain shower.

Feels great on and keeps you nice and warm for when the sun’s not shining or if you’re in a wee sea breeze.  It’s really light weight, I always find mid layers hard to find, as it’s always a toss-up between warmth and weight. As you need something to keep you warm, but not to take up too much room in your carry bag. Adidas has got it just right with this mid layer and the Ruby / Brown edition looks very stylish.

I’m quite a slim fit and the only negative for me, was it felt slightly on the baggy side.

  • Warm
  • Light weight
  • Really comfy

Summary

A reliable quarter zip is one of the most versatile layers a golfer can own. It bridges the gap between warmth and freedom of movement, giving you just enough protection without ever feeling bulky.

The options in 2026 underline just how far the category has come, with technical fabrics and refined fits now the norm. Whether you’re playing through the seasons or simply looking for a go-to extra layer, there’s plenty here to suit your game.
