WGC-Mexico Championship betting tips: Top tips
As you’d expect in such a high quality field, the big guns have dominated the first two WGC-Mexico Championship events.
Dustin Johnson claimed the opener, Phil Mickelson the second and the likes of Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm have also thrown down strong challenges.
All of them will feature strongly again, although it will be interesting to see how Thomas (10/1) responds after throwing away a four-shot final round lead at the Genesis Open.
Mickelson’s claims here are also obvious and he will definitely have his supporters at 28/1 following his Pebble Beach triumph.
But Bubba Watson (35/1) appeals and can improve on his 9th-placed finish last year.
A top 20 at Riveria was a solid enough display for the three-time champion and followed a top 5 in Pheonix at the Waste Management Open.
I like what I’ve seen from Rory McIlroy this year and, while you can take or leave the 10/1 on offer, I’d be surprised if you didn’t get a run for your cash.
As impressive as his second round 63 was, I was more heartened by his final round effort in difficult conditions.
He didn’t quite get the final hole right to really put the pressure on Thomas and JB Holmes but the rest of his game now seems to be keeping pace with his spectacular driving.
Obviously he’s had his chances to win, and the fact he hasn’t done so will cause some to be concerned.
But finishes of T4, T5 and T4, plus a top 10 in Mexico in his only appearance there in 2017, are good enough for me to take a punt.
