Farmers Insurance Open betting tips: Who’s going to win?
Jon Rahm (15/2) is arguably the most in-form golfer on the planet after finishing with a flurry on the European Tour last year to claim the DP World Tour Championship and with it the season-long Race to Dubai.
He took the best part of seven weeks off before that event and followed it up with a 2nd-place finish at the Hero World Challenge.
He then went and got married before returning to action at the Sentry Tournament of Champions for another top 10.
He’s had some good weeks here in the past, including a win in 2017 and a top 5 last time out. Rory McIlroy is rightly the only man ahead of him in the betting but he’s never won on his first outing of the year and that bodes well for Rahm.
At a slightly bigger price Hideki Matsuyama (18/1) looks a strong bet and should be in contention come Sunday.
The Japanese star enjoyed a good 2019 but was rarely in the mix for a title. He slipped outside the top 30 in the world in the middle of the year but has since regained some form and has begun climbing the rankings again.
Matsuyama played well throughout the PGA Tour’s Asian swing and finished tied 12th in his last outing at the Sony Open.
His game suits the layout and he’s had a few good finishes in the past at this event but his best showing came last year when he tied for 3rd and he is well priced to go well this time.
