Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship preview: TV times and betting tips
The PGA Tour moves over to the Caribbean this week for the postponed Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship – we’ll be stopping here twice in the 2021 season – and this week, for the first time in the tournament’s history, it is no longer an opposite field event, meaning an increased purse and the full 500 FedEx Cup points on offer, as well as a spot in the 2021 Masters and PGA, and exemption through 2023.
The details
Venue: Corales Golf Club, Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Date: September 24-27, 2020
Course stats: Par 72; 7,670 yards
Course summary: In complete contrast to the gruelling, gritty test of the US Open at Winged Foot last week, the Corales PuntaCana Resort and Club Championship sets players a somewhat simpler and perhaps more enjoyable task. This aesthetically pleasing track boasts wide, flat fairways with pristine greens. The coastal winds can cause the players some issues, but when conditions are calm we will see players shooting consistently low numbers.
Purse: $4 million
Defending champion: Graeme McDowell (-18)

Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship betting: Staking plan
Will Zalatoris – 3pts to win @ 12/1 with bet365
This young rising star certainly caught my eye after an impressive display at the US Open last week. Zalatoris ranked 31st for GIR, and 11th in putting average, on his way to a T6 finish at Winged Foot. This performance clearly highlights the talent he possesses, and this was further evidenced with a win and ten Top-10 finishes on the Korn Ferry Tour last season. This event will cater to Zalatoris, as the field mirrors a similar standard to a Korn Ferry Tour event and on a course that suits his game perfectly. His price is a bit short, but I can’t resist backing him to secure his first PGA Tour title this week.
Adam Long – 2pts to win @ 25/1 with bet365
Adam Long is another player who had a fantastic week at Winged Foot. A T13 finish at one of the toughest major championship tests is impressive, and the task this week should be much simpler to navigate. If he can produce a similar display to last week, where he ranked 9th for fairways found and 3rd for putting average, Long will have a great chance in this. An 8th place finish last year supports this theory, and at a modest price he is worth a punt.
Seamus Power – 0.5pts each-way @ 90/1 with bet365
After a disappointing missed cut last time out, Seamus Power may be about to kick off his season back on a course that he clearly enjoys. A fifth and seventh place finish in his last three events here suggest this course suits his style of play, and a recent ninth place finish at the Barracuda Championship demonstrates he is still capable of contending. The Irishman has a very rounded game, ranking 33rd for Driving Distance, 34th for GIR, 8th for SG: Around-The-Green and 24th for putting average. The consistency is often what lets Power down, but on a familiar course I fancy a strong effort this week and he represents good each-way value.
