NCG SUMMARY
The Academy dashboard is a brilliant tool for coaches to get insight into their play out on the golf course. It provides completely impartial data on the player’s strengths and weaknesses, so there is no ‘player bias’ in the golfer’s feedback on the current state of their game and which allows the coach to plan accordingly.
PROS
- Easy to navigate
- Excellent data
- Incredible tool in the coaching toolbox
CONS
- Data is only as good as what is input by the player
Shot Scope Academy Review: NCG Verdict
I am a huge fan of data. I really like the saying, ‘What’s measured gets improved’, and I think that the Shot Scope Academy dashboard is a brilliant tool for coaches to utilise to help golfers improve.
I teach a few players that use Shot Scope, so when they gave me access to the dashboard, I was very excited to see what was actually happening on the golf course. We have all had that experience where a golfer turns up for a lesson and wants to work on their driving, and then just as the player is leaving, they tell you they have 4 or 5 three putts a round – golfers often want to work on parts of the game they enjoy and try avoid parts they don’t.

I’ve been working with a player now for 12 months, and it was great to see in-depth what’s going on with his game. You can see in the image above how nicely the data is set out, so you can see the different data points quickly before your session. I love how you can change the strokes gained measurements for different standards so you can see what needs to improve for a player to take their game to the next level.
You can really delve into the data too, looking specifically at the results of every shot hit on each hole, which allows the golf coach to see if there are any patterns to the poor holes they have on the course, is it dog legs they struggle on, uphill holes or holes with fairway bunkers for example.

Shot Scope have measured over 200 million shots on their platform, so the data they have collected on golfers of all levels is very accurate. The platform allows the coach to compare their players against one another, leave comments and feedback on a player’s rounds to monitor their improvement and set realistic targets and achievable goals.
As a coach, I love the dashboard and have encouraged many of my players to get a Shot Scope so I can get their performance data and help them improve their scores more quickly.
