First Impressions

This ball is soft, there is no doubt about that. Among Bridgestone’s Tour offerings, the Tour B XS stands out for its plush feel. That’s not to say it’s spongy – it’s responsive, particularly on wedge shots and approaches. There’s a distinct sense that the ball stays on the face just a split second longer, offering precision and control when you need it most.

NGC Verdict

Spin is where I found the Tour B XS really flexes its muscles. On wedge shots, I clocked an incredible 8,400 rpm, making it one of the spiniest balls I have ever tested. Couple that with a consistently low launch, and you’ve got serious stopping power into the greens. I found it to be the perfect golf ball for aggressive, confident shot-making.

With a 7-iron, my numbers remained strong. My average ball speed was 119mph, spin rate was 6,100 rpm, and a carry distance of up to up to 175 yards. This was very impressive and sat at the top end of golf ball performance I have tested this year. It’s delivers that rare combination of high spin and solid distance that makes this ball so appealing for better players.

Despite all that spin, the Tour B XS doesn’t balloon off the tee. I found driver performance was surprisingly stable producing spin and control. As you can see below, I was able to register 161.5 mph ball speed, with 2,580 rpm spin, and carry numbers touching 280 yards with a near total distance of 300 yards. That’s no compromise. It’s a driver performance you can trust, even with all that green-side grip.

What’s the technology behind the numbers? Bridgestone has included their new Reactive X Smart Cover and Graduation Core Technology. The cover is designed to stay on the club face longer, enhancing spin on shorter shots while reducing it with the driver. It’s a neat trick that actually works. The graduated core also works its magic, balancing feel and speed through the bag.

The Tour B XS is a true Tour-level ball, no question. If you value feel, spin, and performance – and especially if you tend to play with a bit more finesse, this is a top-tier option. Tiger’s stamp of approval only sweetens the deal.
