Cloudspun Fleece Golf Hoodie
Like most golfers, I was a late-comer to golf hoodies. I disliked them. But unlike every other dinosaur in this sport, I have come around, and the reason I have come around is because brands like Puma continue to wheel out quality like this. This golf hoodie is superb, and ticks the boxes of fit, comfort and style.
As soon as I saw it, I thought it was the hoodie for me. The brown style is subtle, but so nice. It is perfect for those slightly chillier days we get in the UK summer, but it will also be perfect for those evening games when the sun is creeping away over the hills.
The fabric is soft to touch, and soft to feel once it is on your back. You have complete freedom of movement, and while Puma reserves the right to have any branding they wish on their apparel, what is great here is there is no obvious branding or logos on the hoodie. This makes it more attractive to wear out and about, away from the golf course.

Reebok Tech Golf Hoodie
Ever since Tyrrell Hatton stared down golf’s fashion police at Wentworth, the hoodie has become the must-have piece of apparel. Reebok’s latest model, the Golf Tech, is a new standard bearer at a cracking price.
It hits the mark in every area. It’s very comfortable, and well-fitted, but still stretches – giving you plenty of room for manoeuvre during the swing.
The soft polyester fabric makes it feel like you’re being wrapped in a blanket, and the fleece lined interior is warming but not oppressively so. This hoodie will keep you snug in the winter, with appropriate layering, but will be ideal in spring and autumn too.
Let’s give Reebok a big shout out for the zip pockets. I wear a lot of hoodies, where pockets are considered nothing more than a glorified handwarmer. But golfers can carry a lot of stuff – tees, gloves, ball-markers – and trouser pockets are not always enough.
At £44.99? You won’t find many products on the market at this quality and price. Fill your boots.

The Adidas Ultimate365 Elevated Hoodie is part of the ‘Tour’ clothing range from adidas Golf and you’ll probably see loads of golfers wearing this item on the TV this year.
It is produced from a series of high-performance recycled materials and looks as good on the course as off. It’s soft to touch which makes it great for chilling out at home and the lightweight material also makes it great to carry in your golf bag for that additional warmth or water-resistant item. Which we all need over the UK summers.
I tried the dark blue one, which I really liked. Must say I’ve never worn a hoodie on the golf course before, it’s not really my thing. I did struggle slightly as it was a windy day, and the hood kept blowing in the wind when I was addressing the ball before I played my shot. Which was slightly off putting.
I think this will be more useful to me off the course than on the course, as I’ve said I’m more of a traditionalist, therefore hoodies on the course is not really my thing. Found it excellent for going down to the gym or just relaxing at home, as it was extremely soft and comfy to wear.

I know they are a divisive amongst golfers, but I’m all for golf hoodies. I’m a fan of most casual golf wear in truth and, on the whole, tend to avoid the more upright, traditional bits and bobs.
I think golf has moved on from these strict dress codes in the large and that can only be a good thing. We should want it to be accessible and welcoming for all and I think golf hoodies help with this.
I have owned my fair share of them and this is right up there with the best. It is extremely comfortable to wear. The lightweight nature of it makes it a compelling option and a one that will work on and off the course.

I really liked this hoodie. It felt great on the golf course – light, breathable, and comfortable, even during a full swing.
The fabric is soft and cool to the touch, making it perfect for warmer days. I also used it while playing padel, and it worked just as well, staying dry and flexible.
The only thing some might not love is the long back tail, which might to be the liking for those who like a shorter finish.
But overall, it’s a great hoodie to golf in and very versatile. The UPF 50+ sun protection is a nice bonus, so I can wear it outside all year-round.
It’s made of a lightweight blend that stretches with your movements, making it a top choice for on and off course use.

Sunderland Atlas Hoodie
I usually don’t go for hoodies, but I decided to give this one a try, and honestly, I’m glad I did. It’s surprisingly lightweight but keeps me warm — I was expecting something bulkier.
The fleece feels soft and comfy, and the stretch means I can move easily without feeling restricted. I wore it on a breezy morning at the golf course, and it handled the light rain well, thanks to the water-repellent finish.

Hands up, I am not a golf hoodie wearer – until this year! The Sunderland hoodie made me view these items in a different light. Dare I say, I am a hoodie convert! I absolutely loved this Peter Millar hoodie.
The fit is perfect – snug but not tight, and it moves easily with me. The stretch is impressive, making it super comfortable during swings (and walks).
I was surprised at how warm it kept me, even on a cooler day, without feeling bulky. The fabric felt soft and breathable, so I never felt overheated.

Hoodies are becoming all the rage on the golf course these days, and Original Penguin have done their best work with the Performance Earl Golf Hoodie. If you’re a golfer that doesn’t mind the chilly weather, then this hoodie is perfect for you. Made from a single-knit mixture of nylon and elastane, the fabric fits well, but remains stretchy to allow for an unrestricted golf swing. The hood is perfect should you need it to cover your ears at times in between shots, while the material is also moisture wicking should the temperature start heating up while you are out on the course. It is a thinner material than some, so if it does start to get too cold, then you may need to layer up some more, but for that gap between summer and winter, the Performance Earl Golf Hoodie is spot on!

FootJoy ThermoSeries Pullover Hoodie
With hoodies becoming more and more prominent on the golf course, the FootJoy ThermoSeries Pullover Hoodie might well become a part of my golfing wardrobe!
This piece is made with moisture-wicking technology to keep water off the body, while the ‘Raglan Sleeve Construction’ allows for greater freedom of movement. It is very comfortable and fits well, with no restrictions when it comes to the golf swing.
The only issue I would have with the ThermoSeries Pullover Hoodie is the lack of pockets to put your hands in on a cold day. There is one pocket, but it is at chest level on the right side of the design.
Despite that, this offering from FootJoy is certainly something you should take a look at if you are in the market for a hoodie on the golf course.

FootJoy Tempo Hoodie
The Tempo Hoodie is part of the FJ TempoSeries range which also comprises a lightweight vest, an excellent midlayer and a full-zip jacket. It is constructed from a polyester 81%, elastane 19% blend which produces a fabric that is designed to be stretchy and lightweight. It is also moisture wicking but lacks the DWR finish as seen on the Tempo Tech Midlayer which offers some protection against light rain.
Elasticated cuffs and hem provide an element of structure but, overall, the look is very casual and relaxed. It comes in six sizes and three colours. I tested the version in medium size and Chambray colour. Chambray is a duck egg blue and suited the relaxed style of the garment nicely.
There are a couple of contrasting navy zippered side pockets that meet in the middle. The hood drawstrings are also navy. The hood sits perfectly ok when not deployed. I’m not sure what sort of weather would make me want to put the hood up, so I feel it’s a bit irrelevant.
The fabric of the entire garment is lightly textured that offers a bit of visual interest. There is a single logo to the back left shoulder which I think represents the TempoSeries range. I nearly didn’t find an FJ logo which would have been a first! But no, there it is, just beneath the left pocket.
On the course it is comfortable to wear because it is stretchy and lightweight. Because it is light in weight, it doesn’t offer strong thermal properties, and it wouldn’t function as a standalone midlayer on cooler days but is easy to layer over. If hoodies are your thing, then I think you’ll find a lot to like in the Tempo Hoodie. For me, it would be more at home on a surfer beach than a golf course, particularly when the Tempo Tech Midlayer is a similar and, for me, significantly superior option.

I really loved this midlayer. I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about a hood on the course, but it actually works brilliantly – it sits neatly and doesn’t interfere with your swing at all.
It’s a nice lightweight layer, but surprisingly warm when you zip it up to the chin, making it ideal for those in-between days. The fabric has a soft, slightly textured feel with plenty of stretch, so it moves easily with you and never feels restrictive.
The fit is flattering and just the right length to keep your back warm, which I always appreciate when there’s a bit of a breeze. The pockets are a great addition too – practical without adding bulk.
It does have a slightly younger, sportier feel, but I felt completely comfortable wearing it (and I’m in my 40s!). I had it in Infinity Blue, which matched my visor perfectly, and it looked smart on the course.
