Mizuno M.Craft Osaka Putter Review: NCG Summary

5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

Mizuno has upgraded their M.Craft series with a new Japanese 1025E carbon steel forged range. The Osaka S putter is the wide blade in the series, that is a toe hang putter.

Looking down at this putter is very inviting, there isn’t too much going on to distract. The face is textured yet produces a very smooth roll.

The Lampkin Deep Etched grip has a rustic look that works perfectly with the concept of combining heritage and modern technology.

PROS

  • Looks stunning
  • Great head cover

First Impressions

I’m typically a golfer who favours mallet putters but taking the Osaka blade out of the head cover I became very fond of its looks. It has a short heel-toe length teamed with wide blade profile looks great in the silver colourway.

The forged 1025E carbon steel gives a very clean and smooth look with a simple alignment line on the top. The face deep grinding pattern face that is rough to touch but was excited to see how the ball reacts off it.

The standard grip is a Lampkin deep etched, that has a rustic look that adds to Mizuno’s desire to blend heritage and modern innovation.

Mizuno M.Craft Osaka Putter Review

The head cover is the same great feel and design as the previous model. It has a real durable feeling on the outside with a fluffy inner and a magnetic fasten.

NCG Verdict

The Osaka comes in either a slant neck like I tested or the Osaka P is a plumber neck. The Osaka S, that I used has 43° toe hang, which is best for players with moderate arc in their putting stroke.

As someone with a fairly strong arc in their stroke I liked how the ball came off the face. It was a firm feeling yet responsive. The forged 1025E carbon steel head has a deep grinding pattern on the face creates a smooth roll straight off the face.

Mizuno M.Craft Osaka Putter Review

The putter is fit with a Lampkin Deep Etched grip that has a rustic look. It’s a thinned style than on the previous years M.Craft but I think it works really well. I enjoyed the rougher feel as it felt like I has great control. It would also be great if caught in the rain.

The Osaka putter comes with weights underneath that can be changed. I tested this putter with 10’s at the bottom which felt like a nice weight. These weights can be altered to match the players desired centre of gravity and desired head weight.

Overall, I enjoyed using this putter and look forward to taking it out on the course more over the season!
