WITB: Branden Grace – Nedbank Golf Challenge
Branden Grace had three new Callaway wedges in his bag as he stormed to victory on home soil with a superb final round 66 in Sun City.
The South African has kept pretty much the same set up since his history-making 62 at Royal Birkdale earlier this year.
But the new Mack Daddy prototype wedges – which we believe to be the Mack Daddy 4 – are a brand new addition.
We have seen Sergio Garcia using one in recent weeks following his split from TaylorMade which has fuelled rumours the Spaniard may be joining Grace as a Callaway staff player.
Grace’s victory – the first by a South African since Trevor Immelman in 2007 – owed much to his trusty Callaway Epic Sub Zero driver and XR16 3-wood.
He then goes into a couple of Apex UT utility irons before the 2013 X Forged irons.
We’ve already seen a number of Callaway players – including Danny Willet – slip into the new 2018 X Forged irons. Maybe Grace will make the switch after the DP World Tour Championship next week? He’s 10th in the Race to Dubai rankings heading into the final event.
Grace is a Titleist Pro V1x loyalist when it comes to his golf ball and he wears the FootJoy Pro SL shoes.
