Your golf-watching habits on television will need to change when the Ryder Cup comes around.

You need to understand that there is no meaningful golf on Thursday. The Ryder Cup is a three-day event, and it isn’t stroke play; it’s match play, which means games don’t always reach the 18th hole. This is more of a planning problem for fans on the ground rather than fans embedded in their sofas.

The action starts early on Friday, September 26 – early for fans living in America anyway. Coverage starts from 7 am at Bethpage Black in New York, when Team USA will look to begin their pursuit of bringing the cup back into their grasp.

What won’t change about your watching habits however, especially if you live in the UK, is that you’ll need to switch over to Sky Sports to tune in. This has been the home of professional golf for a sustained period now. On days one and two, the coverage begins at 11.30 am on Sky Sports Golf and Main Event, and will be on virtually all day.

Sunday’s action starts a bit later. It will begin at 4.30 pm for UK fans, and 12 pm on NBC and Peacock for fans in America. The Ryder Cup is billed as golf’s best team event, and a strong rivalry has developed between Europe and America in recent years.

Last time, Europe won comfortably in Rome and will hope to win on away soil for the first time since 2012. If they do, it will be just the third away win in the tournament as a whole this side of the millennium.

Anyway, here is the Ryder Cup TV Schedule for both UK and US fans:
