Grace Kim is an Australian golfer who made her major breakthrough by winning the 2025 Amundi Evian Championship.

Born in Sydney, New South Wales in December 2000, Kim started playing the game from a young age, and was a good amateur – reaching the top 30 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings before turning professional in 2021. After wins on the Epson Tour and ALPG Tour, she made the jump to the LPGA Tour, and was victorious at the Lotte Championship in 2023.

Two years later, the Australian took to the winners’ circle on the major stage. After being nowhere with four holes to play, Kim finished birdie, birdie, par, eagle to force a playoff with Thailand’s Jeeno Thitikul at the Amundi Evian Championship. She then chipped in on the first extra hole to stay in the tournament, before making another eagle on the second extra hole to claim the title in the most improbable way possible!

Two Wins, Two Playoff Triumphs

Both of Kim’s wins on the LPGA Tour have come via playoffs. The first came at the Lotte Championship in 2023, where she downed Yu Liu and Yu-Jin Sung on the first extra hole. She then won the 2025 Amundi Evian Championship, where she got the better of Jeeno Thitikul thanks to a glorious eagle on the second extra hole – having chipped in on the 73rd hole to stay in the tournament.

Fifth Female Australian Major Winner

With her victory at the Evian Resort, Kim became just the fifth Australian woman to win a major championship. She follows in the footsteps of Karrie Webb, Jan Stephenson, Minjee Lee and Hannah Green.

What did you make of Grace Kim’s heroics down the 18th hole at the Evian Resort? Can the Aussie go on to win more major titles? Let us know your thoughts with a post on X, formerly Twitter!

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
