Who is Cameron Young’s caddie?

Cameron Young turned to a new caddie midway through 2025, and it proved to be a masterstroke as he subsequently won for the first time on the PGA Tour

Cameron Young made the caddie switch to close friend Kyle Sterbinsky in May of 2025. Previously, Young had Paul Tesori on the bag, who is an experienced looper and is most well-known for his time with Tour veteran Webb Simpson.

Young initially had Tesori as his bagman from 2023, his sophomore year on tour, until the pair parted earlier this year.

Young then turned from seasoned pro Tesori to buddy Sterbinsky, as he looked to battle back from a serious slump in form. Young and Sterbinsky were college teammates at Wake Forest, where Cam won the individual title at the US Collegiate Championship as a freshman.

The New Yorker also became the first amateur to win the Metropolitan PGA’s New York State Open at Bethpage Black in 2017. Young’s knowledge of the course was a key reason for Keegan Bradley selecting him as a captain’s pick for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Sterbinksy’s first appearance on the bag for Young was at the Truist Championship in May 2025. They got off to an admirable start, with a T7 finish at Philadelphia Cricket Club. Young continued the good form into the summer with a pair of T4 finishes at the RBC Canadian Open and the US Open at Oakmont.

Young finally got over the line for his long-awaited first PGA Tour win at the Wyndham Championship at the end of July. The victory at Sedgefield Country Club was the final event before the FedEx Cup playoffs, where Young rounded off his 2025 PGA Tour season in the top five with another T4 at East Lake.

He was the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2022, garnering 94% of the vote when he burst onto the professional scene. The man from Queens had a solo second at The Open and a tie for third at the PGA Championship in his first full season.

Young is yet to break through in the majors, but has been in contention on numerous occasions already. Most notably, in 2025 at the US Open, where J.J. Spaun took the title after a weather-delayed final round.

The Wake Forest duo of Young and Sterbinsky secured the opportunity to return to Bethpage Black for the 2025 Ryder Cup. Young was riding the hot hand from his stellar golf in the summer, as well as the secondary narrative of being able to play at the venue, which resides in his home state.

With the fans on his side, and alongside his new-ish looper, Young was one of the few highlights for the US Side on Long Island. On home territory, and in his maiden Ryder Cup appearance, Young went 3-1-0, playing alongside Justin Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau before leading off the Sunday Singles against Euro stalwart Justin Rose.

Young was up early before the Englishman came fighting back, but the man on home soil had the last laugh, dispatching a clutch putt on the 18th to claim a full point to begin the US comeback that fell just short.

Young will seemingly be a US shoe-in after he was hugely impressive on debut, also as the youngest man on the 12-man roster. It’s clear that the move to have Sterbinsky as his caddie was the right thing to do, and Young will be hoping to sustain the high-level performances of 2025 into future seasons.
