The standard to which celebrities play golf has always been to the intrigue of us club golfers.

Here and there, you hear of your favourite faces on the television screen playing golf and referring to it in their respective spheres. You might even see them at your own golf courses if you share the same membership.

Celebrity Ryder Cup match

There was even a celebrity golf match that took place at the 2025 Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black. The likes of Brooklyn Beckham, Catherine Zeta-Jones, John McEnroe, and Tom Felton and Oliver Phelps of Harry Potter were involved.

There were four pairs on each side for Europe and America. The format of the match was a Two-Person Scramble competition, playing holes #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 (11 total holes).

Celebrity golf handicaps

Famous faces usually pop up at pro-ams before professional tournaments, such as at the British Masters at the Belfry and the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth. Your favourite footballer, comedian or actor can be seen sharing the fairways with some of the best players in the world.

Footballers, usually retired ones, often circulate these pro-ams. John Terry, Gareth Bale and Jimmy Bullard are among the footballers who have swapped boots for golf shoes.

A host of retired footballers compete in the Icons Series held at Robinswood Golf Club, which is a team event played between England and the rest of the world.

But away from the football world, we want to know about the best celebrity golfers, the names that appear on our screens on a regular basis.

Golfers usually get swarmed by fans for autographs and pictures, as they are more relaxed events where the players afford more time for the fans. This is the same for the celebrities too.

Whether they are artists, actors or sports stars, they are followed like the pied piper. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is another example of how fans flock to a famous golf course to catch a glimpse of the most-revered stars. That particular pro-am is more US-centric and features several actors, NFL players and basketball figures too.

So let’s take a look at the best celebrity golf handicaps from both the UK and across the pond. Do any of these handicap marks surprise you? Or have you come across these players at events or even at your club?
