Our Under Armour Spieth 2 review took place on the course at Hillsborough Golf Club in Sheffield.
We were big fans of the Spieth One which we tested and used a lot in 2017 so were keen to see what tweaks and improvements had been made.
Under Armour Spieth 2 review: First impressions
As soon as I saw these I thought the aesthetics had come on leaps and bounds from the original models which were a bit too busy for me.
The Spieth 2 have a much cleaner and classier look with some smart stitched patterning around the heel area.
There’s a softer feel to the leather too rather than the firmer almost ‘plastic’ feel to the Spieth One.
But we can see that there’s the same technology on the outsole which was one of the reasons we liked the original models.
They were very solid and stable with excellent traction.
But my main gripe with the Spieth One was they they were a bit on the heavy side.

Under Armour Spieth 2 review: The technology
Once again we’ve got Under Armour’s rotational resistance technology on the outsole with strategically placed cleats aimed at improving traction.
This technology was created directly after working closely with Spieth to stop him ‘falling off’ his left foot on his follow through.
What’s very impressive here is the fact Under Armour have become the second golf brand to add Gore-Tex waterproofing.
It’s something Ecco have added to all their golf shoes for 2018 – so expect protection from the elements and breathability.
Under Armour have made the Spieth 2 lighter than than their predecessors lighter thanks to TPU fibres directly woven into the upper for structural support without adding weight.
Under Armour Spieth 2 review: The results
There’s a softer and more comfortable feel to these when you first put them on.
There’s a nice bit of padding around the heel and the tongue also helps to keep your foot nicely cushioned.
But after playing a round on a damp golf course in them, it’s clear they’ve maintained the excellent traction from the original models.
I’m a big fan of these laces too. There are the sort which allow you to just tie the in a single knot yet they won’t come undone on you.
And if you’re like me, constantly running late and needing every second available before heading to the first tee, then you’ll appreciate them too.
Under Armour Spieth 2 review: NCG verdict
Under Armour are still relatively new in the golf shoe game but they are learning very quickly.
To make the improvements they have to the Spieth One is very impressive in such a short space of time.
They’ve kept all the things that were good but have made them lighter and look better.
I had seen the Spieth One as a pair of shoes to wear through the winter in soft conditions but I can see myself wearing these all year round with no problem at all.
They are light and comfortable for the summer yet waterproof, robust and stable for the winter.
