A super comfortable, classic, waterproof golf shoe with modern technology at an extremely reasonable price.

The more shoes I try the more I realise you cannot judge a book by its cover. The Stromberg Tour Classic golf shoe is definitely in classic shoe design territory. In the past I equated this with good looks and sturdiness but usually a compromise on comfort. It is fair to say that this is a terrific looking golf shoe. It has an overall classic look but with the moisture-wicking mesh areas contrasting with the rest of the shoe it has a modern appearance.
The upper is made from a high performance micro-fibre leather upper. It also has a moisture-wicking mesh lining that helps to wick away moisture to keep your feet dry. Impressively they come with a one year waterproof guarantee. There is cushioning provided by a Phylon shock absorbing midsole and an Ortholite footbed. The sole has dynamic TPU permanent traction (this, I think, refers to the spikes which are integrated to the sole and not removable like most shoes). They claim multi-directional grip suitable for any terrain. Does the tech blurb perform?
Despite their sturdy appearance these were extremely comfortable as soon as I put them on, and I do mean extremely comfortable. Post-testing I walked through non-golf shoe parts of the clubhouse because I had forgotten I still had golf shoes on. Size-wise they were absolutely fine but I found them very slightly bigger than most other brands. This was not sufficient to go down a half size, however. As their appearance would suggest, they provided excellent support when hitting full shots. Walking in them was comfortable and they had great support over irregular terrain. The grip was absolutely second to none. This was very apparent on a hot dry day walking through the rough when I could feel hoe they gripped the long grass. Because the spikes are not changeable they have a much more solid and robust design and feel compared to removable spikes. I could not see any reference anywhere to the longevity of them. I can only assume they should last the life of the shoe but, personally, I will avoid any long walks on concrete surfaces if possible.

High tech, classic looks, waterproof, great grip, what’s not to like? These are supremely comfortable, not just for the type of shoe they are but compared to all golf shoes. I could not find them on the Stromberg website for some reason but they were on sale for £89.99 which I think represents amazing value.
