For golfers torn between blade feel and mallet forgiveness, the Toulon Boston H3 offers a compelling middle ground – but it comes at a price.

Introduction

Can a blade putter really offer the stability of a mallet without sacrificing feel? That’s the question Toulon is aiming to answer with the Boston H3.

Part of the brand’s 2026 lineup, this refined take on a classic shape introduces a longer hosel designed to reduce face rotation and suit a more controlled stroke.

It’s a subtle change on paper, but one that could make a significant difference on the greens.

Here’s how it performs out on the golf course in our Toulon Boston H3 Putter review…

NCG SUMMARY

A premium blade with a twist, the Toulon Boston H3 blends classic looks with modern stability. The long H3 hosel reduces toe hang and face rotation, making it a strong option for golfers who like a blade but prefer a straighter, more controlled stroke.

Exceptional feel and feedback are standout traits, though the £600 price tag firmly places it in the luxury category.

PROS

Key benefits and downsides

Key benefitsDownsides
Looks – Premium, clean aestheticsPrice – This is firmly a premium option and has a high price point
Feel – Exceptional feel and feedbackAlignment – Minimal alignment won’t be as easy to use for some
Stability – More stable than a traditional blade
Forgiving – Unique hosel design reduces face rotation

First Impressions

This is a seriously premium-looking putter. The new midnight blue finish replaces previous black coatings and gives the head a rich, almost luxury feel.

Although it’s subtle, but paired with the white alignment, I think it creates a clean contrast that frames the ball beautifully.

The Boston H3 keeps things traditional where it matters. It’s a one-piece milled head with no insert, something purists will appreciate. The soft shaping, compact profile and minimal alignment aid, just a single white line, all reinforce that classic blade aesthetic.

Behind the ball, it sits beautifully square. There’s nothing distracting here, just a clean, confidence-inspiring look.

What I found

Despite being a blade, it offers a surprising level of stability. Golfers who typically struggle with the smaller head size of blades, especially those making the switch from mallets, will find this a much easier transition.

The reduced toe hang means it suits players with a straighter stroke or those looking to minimise face rotation.

It’s a clever middle ground. You get the compact look and feel of a blade, but with a more controlled, mallet-like motion.

I think the feel is exceptional. The one-piece milled construction combined with the deep face pattern delivers a soft yet responsive strike.

You get clear feedback, particularly on longer putts. This is especially useful on longer range putts for better distance control.

It’s also simply enjoyable to use. There’s a real sense of connection with the head through the stroke.

NCG Final Say

Overall, I think the Toulon Boston H3 is a beautifully crafted blade that cleverly bridges the gap between traditional and modern putting styles. It delivers the feel purists crave, while offering just enough stability to appeal to a wider range of golfers.

If you’re willing to invest, this is a putter that doesn’t just look the part, it performs at the highest level too.

How they compare to other Toulon putters

This is the most interesting blade of Toulon’s 2026 collection. There is no doubt about that.

Although the head is very much the same, it has a much longer neck than the Toulon Hollywood putter. It is called an H3 hosel and it produces 30° of toe hang, which is less than the shorter neck in previous options.

About the author

Callaway Epic Max driver review
Jack Backhouse

A member of the PGA for 13 years, Jack has lived golf for more than half his life. Inspired by Tiger Wood’s winning putt at the 2008 US Open, an obsession began with watching slow motion golf swings on the internet and reading What’s In The Bag articles in magazines.

Not destined for a life behind the desk in a pro shop, Jack has focussed more on coaching, working closely with regional teams in North Yorkshire and helping golfers of all levels on their journey to enjoying playing the game more. Jack has coached many junior golfers into the county teams, and once worked with a player at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

After letting his game fall apart prior to COVID, Jack rediscovered his love for playing golf after joining Silloth Golf Club in 2020 and whipping round the windy, firm links course. Playing regularly with a half set of clubs he has a passion for shot making and developing skill, and claims to have the sharpest 30-100 yard game in the North of England (only because he doesn’t know anyone in the South), and now maintains a +1 handicap at a club much closer to home, Sand Moor GC.

Jack has always tinkered with his equipment, once building his own Frankenstein one length set of clubs after watching Bryson DeChambeau burst onto the scene after winning the US Amateur. He firmly believes in getting custom fit and is happy to debate anyone about blade irons being superior to any other iron category.

Jack loves: playing quickly, 2 ball golf, match play, heathland courses, pencil bags, foursomes, Tiger Wood’s swing 2005-2009.

Jack hates: buggies, unnecessary trees, giving shots, the 7 iron loft debate, graphite shaft lovers weird superiority complex.
