  • Wilson dynapwr max+ driver review: the details

Wilson has seen a real resurgence over the past few years in both the quality and popularity of the golf equipment. The Dynapwr Max+ driver may be the icing on the cake for that statement.

Times have changed from when Wilson was once considered a cheap, package set brand. They have rebranded and are back with a vengeance.

This is their most forgiving driver to date and rounds off their Dynapwr range they previously introduced last year. And, I have to say, this is going to be one of my favourites for the 2026 season.

NCG Summary

NCG SUMMARY

The Wilson Dynapwr Max+ driver is a clear sign that Wilson’s resurgence is no exaggeration. It may not be the longest driver but it is sure to help you find more fairways and on a regular basis.

For less than £500, it offers excellent value for money as well.

PROS

  • Outstanding levels of forgiveness and stability
  • A consistent launch
  • The perfect fairway finder

CONS

  • Feel off the face might not suit all

First Impressions

One of the biggest surprises with the Dynapwr Max+ is just how normal it looks for a 10K MOI driver.

Many ultra-forgiving drivers can appear stretched, oversized, or closed at address, but Wilson has avoided that trap here. Wilson has worked hard to make this a good looking driver and it shows.

The head shape is clean and neutral, with a classic profile that doesn’t sit shut. The carbon crown, as seen in the LS and tour drivers, keeps things looking premium.

Additionally, the subtle shaping and relief around the toe which stops it looking left. This gives it a neutral profile that will appeal to better golfers who aren’t fighting slices.

I also like the look of the flippable weight they have added into the head of the driver. There is no sliding weight track to make it more fade or draw bias, but it does spin and with it not being symmetrically weighted it can be made to promote some draw bias.

NCG Verdict

This is Wilson’s first-ever 10K MOI driver, and is all about providing additional stability, as well as launch consistency, but most importantly keeping the ball in play.

Wilson has reworked the face’s bulge and roll, adding extra relief in the toe. This helps maintain ball speed, spin, and launch on mishits while also preventing the club from looking overly draw-biased at address.

I saw absolutely nothing wrong with the performance on off-centred strikes. Shots out of both the heel and toe, of which admittedly there were too many, were all incredibly playable, with consistent launch angles and spin numbers.

It may not be the outright fastest driver on the market, but the Max+ repeatedly delivered dependable ball speeds and a predictable ball flight. I don’t think I have ever hit a more constant driver in terms of balls speeds.

Carry distances remained strong, and dispersion was impressively tight throughout testing, no matter where the contact was on the face.

I do think the titanium face is starting to feel a little ‘tin-like’, not unpleasant by any means, but it’s not ideal.

Final Thoughts

On the whole, I am red hot on Wilson as a brand. Outside of golf they are considered to be a high calibre and quality brand but that reputation has taken a bit of dip when it comes to our game.

Now they are looking to rekindled their presence amongst the higher standings in golf club manufacturers. The Dynapwr Max+ is further proof the brand will be competing with the big hitters again.

This isn’t necessarily the longest driver, but for getting the ball in play and finding more fairways off the tee I don’t think you can do much better.
