First Impressions

In the past, cart bags followed a particular formula and most manufacturers produced pretty similar looking bags. These bags are still around and function well, but there have been increasing numbers of new designs.

To date, I have been impressed with Big Max bags. The Big Max Dri Lite Prime cart bag is a premium looking golf bag. As soon as I set eyes on it I was looking forward to testing it.

NCG Verdict

The website describes it as being made from exquisite vegan leather, giving it a premium feel, and I am in total agreement.

At 3.2kg and with an underside strap, it is an out-and-out cart bag. It does however look and feel a little slimmer, although the top is 9.5 inches, which seems pretty standard.

There are 14 soft top dividers and they feel high quality and very protective.

There are 10 pockets and the innovative part is that several are magnetic making one handed access a breeze. The website states that there is a valuable pocket that is waterproof but multiple pockets seem to have what appear to be the waterproof zips as seen on other Big Max bags.

As to its overall waterproofness, the website states it is water-resistant but the valuable pocket is waterproof. I used it in moderate rain and everything seemed to stay dry. My impression is that it should do a decent job of keeping your stuff reasonably dry, albeit it may not be as completely waterproof as dedicated waterproof bags.

On either side off the ball pocket are intriguing magnetic flaps which when opened reveal some clever storage. One has a sunglasses compartment. There is one large and two smaller pockets on each side. proving plenty of storage options. There are what I presume to be a couple of pen holders on either side also.

On the front are 2 magnetic pockets one of which is a capacious cool pocket. The ball pocket has a nifty mechanism to open the bottom of the pocket to allow easy access.

There are, of course, the expected towel, umbrella and glove holders. As with most bags this has a recess on the base to allow stable placement onto most trolleys.

Big Max Dri Lite Prime Golf Cart Bag Review: Final Thoughts

Merely describing the features of this bag does not really do it justice. It is a phenomenally well designed product. The more substantial material and clever pocket design, makes it seem a little slimmer than most cart bags without sacrificing storage.

This makes it a bit more manageable when lugging it in and out of a car or locker.

It is not cheap, but it is a premium product throughout and, in my opinion, one of the best cart bags out there.
