First Impressions

Big Max have a wide range of golf bags giving many choices.

From what I can see on their website they all appear to be 100% waterproof. For me, a waterproof golf bag is a no-brainer, if the budget will stretch to that (as they do tend to be more expensive).

The Aqua Eight G is described as a full-sized bag with an innovative design, and I am happy to agree with that.

NCG Verdict

Big Max have their i-Dry system through their range which guarantees 100% waterproof material, zips and fasteners. I had the pleasure of testing this bag during several consecutive days of rain and can attest to the veracity of their claim.

There are 5 colour schemes to choose from, and I tested the red and black which I thought looked great.

The bag has 6 pockets. On one side a large full-length pocket and a soft lined valuables pocket. The other side has the air channel and padding for comfortable carry, a medium sized pocket and another valuables pocket.

I like the additional valuables pocket as I find a single pocket can be a bit small to take keys, wallet and phone.

On the front is a large ball pocket with a pretty deep cool pocket above it. Overall, the storage is excellent and well-thought-out. Other small details are a glove patch and a pen holder.

In use, the straps have long enough adjustments to accommodate all body sizes.

With the padded air channel it is very comfortable to carry. The stated weight is 2.3kg, which when checked matches up, but feels lighter than that in reality.

It has a nice wide 8.5 inch top (22cm for those who, rightly, do not wish to mix imperial with metric) with 7 full length dividers. It accommodated 14 clubs without anger-inducing shaft tangling.

When I carry I use a limited set. With 14 clubs in this bag it felt light enough for me to manage a full round as long as I was judicious with my accessories.

A few balls, tees and a thin waterproof top made this eminently usable for me with a full set of clubs.

What really sealed the deal for me with this bag, and why it will become my go-to summer bag, is the hidden stand system. It is a clever design that makes the bottom flat and with its recess sits perfectly in my trolley. This greatly increases its versatility.

Big Max Aqua Eight G Waterproof Golf Bag Review

Its storage is sufficiently large, that should the need arise, one could put in extra clothing needed for poor weather, and it will function well as a trolley bag.

I was very impressed with this bag. There is enough storage to keep everything you would need in it, particularly in the summer.

When playing a full round, I am primarily an electric trolley user and have used a hybrid-type bag in the summer. This bag does nearly as much but is a realistic carry bag too.

The recess to fit trolleys is a small detail but, in my opinion, is transformative in the versatility of this bag.

Big Max Aqua Eight G Waterproof Golf Bag Review: Final Thoughts

This is a great stand/carry bag. The fact that it also functions well as a trolley bag is a huge bonus. It is 100% waterproof and has loads of pockets and features.

There is nothing really to fault in this bag. It is going to become my summer golf bag.
