The Titleist AVX golf ball has established itself as a premium golf ball. Previously seen by many as the ideal alternative to the Pro V1 and Pro V1x, but does it still warrant such a comparison?

Well, Titleist may have given it the best possible chance as for 2026 they have re-engineered the AVX to deliver some top level performance that goes a step further than any other iteration before it.

Here is everything you need to know about the new Titleist 2026 AVX golf balls…

Titleist 2026 AVX Golf Balls: The Technology

Titleist has introduced enhancements to every layer of their golf ball in the search for more performance from tee-to-green.

Including in this is a softer, reformulated urethane cover. This cover is thicker than what previous generations of the Titleist AVX golf balls were fitted with as it is designed to increase short-game spin rates.

Beneath the cover, the AVX features a thinner high flex casting layer. It essentially works to lower the spin rates in longer irons and off the tee.

It does this by working in conjunction with the soft feel cover to increase spin on shorter shots while keeping spin low during higher-speed impacts, like driver shots.

Elsewhere, Titleist has also introduced a new, faster core formulation. Sounds fancy, I know.

But it isn’t as complicated as it may seem. This is has been engineered to balance the changes made to the cover and casting layer by delivering more speed.

From this speed increase, Titleist believe the core of the new AVX will help to provide the long-distance and low long-game spin we have come to expect from this golf ball.

Additionally, the new AVX uses a 346 quadrilateral dipyramid catenary dimple design. This aerodynamic pattern promotes a low, penetrating ball flight off the tee while allowing the ball to achieve a higher peak height on mid-iron shots, improving carry distance and control.

Titleist AVX Golf Balls: A Closer Look

This is a golf ball that is very much tailored to those looking to increase their carry yardages. Low spin and a penetrating ball flight in the long game help to deliver this.

In fact, in comparison with the Pro V1, the AVX actually has a lower ball flight with lower clubs in hand and an even softer feel.

This makes it a strong option for players who find Pro V1 launches too high or spins too much, particularly off the tee and with long irons.

About the author

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
