Honda Classic betting tips: Top-tips
Adam Scott (16/1) blew up spectacularly in the final round at Riviera – a five-over 76 dropping him to tied seventh.
It was a day where nothing went right for the Australian but that effort shouldn’t mask three great days at the Genesis Open and a game that seems to be returning to the form that vaulted him to the top of the world rankings.
Scott also found only Justin Rose too good at the Farmers Insurance Open and has threatened at various points over the last year to end a drought that stretches back to 2016.
He claimed the WGC-Cadillac Championship that year but also won the Honda Classic and has a good recent record at PGA National.
He hasn’t finished out of the top 20 in his last four appearances and, having sat out Mexico last week, will be fresher than most.
Justin Thomas should make a bold bid to retain his title. Finishing off in Mexico with a stunning 62 should have wiped any bad memories after his final round capitulation at Riviera.
The American is a contender in every top class event. He has also finished third here in 2016 so it is a track that clearly suits.
He’s priced at 11/2 and that will put some off but it’s almost a bigger surprise these days to see him struggling.
Gary Woodland (20/1) hasn’t let his defeat in the Tournament of Champions get in the way of posting some impressive numbers.
Top 10s have followed at Phoenix and Riviera and the American posted another top 20 in Mexico on a course that probably didn’t entirely suit his long driving game.
Woodland was second at PGA National in 2017 and has another top 10 there. His figures suggest another good week could be on the cards.
