A senior major championship, PGA Tour signature event and Aramco Team Series headline our betting tips for this week’s golf action!

The Regions Tradition kicks off the senior major championship season, the first of five that will be played in 2024, with Steve Stricker aiming to defend his title.

There are also the next instalments of the Signature Events on the PGA Tour, and the Aramco Team Series. The latter is in Seoul this week, while the PGA Tour hosts the Wells Fargo Championship.

Who will win these tournaments? Matt Coles takes a look at this week’s action…

Regions Tradition golf betting tips and preview

Venue: Founders Course at Greystone Golf & Country Club, Hoover, Alabama, United States
Date: May 9-12, 2024
Course stats: Par 72, 7,293 yards
Defending champion: Steve Stricker (-23)

Steve Stricker @ 4/1 with bet365

Having won three senior majors in 2024, taking his tally to seven in total, Steve Stricker simply has to have your money this week! He is the defending champion of the Regions Tradition, and is a three-time winner of the tournament. It’s no surprise, therefore, that I am picking him to kick off the senior major season with another victory!

Padraig Harrington @ 15/2 with bet365

Padraig Harrington

Surely it is only a matter of time before Padraig Harrington gets his second senior major championship? The 2022 US Senior Open has four other runner-up finishes in his eight senior major appearances so far, and has finished in the top five at the Regions Tradition in each of the last two years. 15/2 says the Irishman wins again on the PGA Champions Tour this week.

Wells Fargo Championship golf betting tips and preview

Venue: Quail Hollow Golf & Country Club, Charlotte, North Carolina, United States
Date: May 9-12, 2024
Course stats: Par 71, 7,538 yards
Defending champion: Wyndham Clark (-19)

Rory McIlroy @ 15/2 with bet365

Two events, two favourites… Yes I know Rory McIlroy is an obvious pick most weeks, but he is returning to a venue he loves. He has won three times at Quail Hollow, with victories in the Wells Fargo Championship in 2010, 2015 and 2021. With victories in the bag both here, and at Valhalla next week for the PGA Championship, this could be a very good two-week spell for the Northern Irishman.

Byeong-Hun An @ 40/1 with bet365

T8 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T16 at The Masters, T4 at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson… Byeong-Hun An’s game is trending in the right direction, and the Wells Fargo Championship could be the perfect spot for him to take his maiden PGA Tour victory. He is currently 40/1 with bet365 to do just that this week.

Aramco Team Series – Seoul golf betting tips and preview

Venue: New Korea Country Club, Seoul, South Korea
Date: May 10-12, 2024
Course stats: Par 72, 6,912 yards

Although this will not be the first time that the Aramco Team Series has been played on Asian soil, it is the first time that South Korea is hosting an event in the Aramco Team Series.

Hyo-Joo Kim @ 11/2 with bet365

Playing on home soil in Seoul, Hyo-Joo Kim is my pick for victory at the Aramco Team Series this week. She has 22 victories in her professional career so far, but this would be her first on the Ladies European Tour. The 2014 Amundi Evian Championship victor is 11/2 to take the title at the New Korea Country Club.

Chiara Tamburlini @ 25/1 with bet365

With a victory to her name already in her first season on the Ladies European Tour, Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini is at battling to be name Rookie of the Year for 2024. Two wins on the LET Access Tour last year were followed by victory at the Joburg Ladies Open in April. Could the Swiss starlet win the biggest event of her career this week, and take a second win in three weeks? She is 25/1 to do just that!

Charley Hull is the favourite for victory in Seoul this week, coming in at 5/1.

What else is going on in the world of golf this week?

There is plenty of other action going on this week.

There is a secondary event on the PGA Tour – the Myrtle Beach Classic, a brand new event at the Dunes Golf & Beach Club. There is also action on the LPGA Tour this week, with the Cognizant Founders Cup being played in New Jersey.

Who will take victory at these tournaments? Check out our picks for success below…

Matt Wallace @ 30/1 to win the Myrtle Beach Classic with bet365

Nine in a row! Matt Wallace ties world record in epic birdie spree

With it being a new event, there is no tournament history to look back on when it comes to picking a winner for the Myrtle Beach Classic this week.

As a result, I am picking England’s Matt Wallace to be the victor come Sunday afternoon. Like Ben An, he also finished in a tie for 4th at the CJ CUP Byron Nelson. Wallace is also a victor of an ‘Alternate Event’ before, winning the Corales Puntacana Championship last year. Could he win on the PGA Tour again this year? He is 30/1 to do so.

Nelly Korda @ 7/2 to win the Cognizant Founders Cup with bet365

I simply cannot bet against this woman… After winning five events in a row, culminating in a major victory at the Chevron Championship a couple of weeks ago, Nelly Korda is without doubt the most in-form golfer in the world.

Unsurprisingly, she is the favourite to win again this week at the Cognizant Founders Cup. Nelly is just 7/2 for the win and although that’s a small price, how can you bet against someone that has won her last five starts on the LPGA Tour?

Mention a European country, and Matt will tell you which resorts make the National Club Golfer Top 100s: European Resorts list. He might even throw in who designed the golf course and how many rooms the hotel has got at each one…

Matt got into the game of golf from a young age, following his old man to the local golf club. He fell for the sport, and now can’t seem to go a day without thinking about how to improve his game (Thanks Dad!). Matt has been a member of Howley Hall GC in Leeds since 2020, and is just about managing to maintain a single-figure handicap. He likes to remind people that he once broke 75, but won’t tell people that it was on a shortened course during the winter.

He moved to Leeds after graduating from the University of Central Lancashire with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Journalism. Matt joined NCG after almost five years travelling the world with the Professional Squash Association, working on events in all four corners of the globe.

Matt currently plays a Cobra King LTDx driver and RadSpeed 3-wood. TaylorMade monopolise the rest of his bag, with a SIM UDI, M5 irons and both Milled Grind and HI-TOE wedges, along with a Monza Redline putter. He uses a Vice Pro Plus golf ball, because he’s a bit different…

Away from golf, Matt is a Manchester United fan, and a keen runner, having ran the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon (his first and possibly last), in May 2023.
