Arnold Palmer Invitational betting tips: Top tip
Rory McIlroy (5/1) is quite rightly a short-priced favourite this week and having won here just two seasons ago I’m sure there will be plenty who are happy to back the Northern Irishman outright.
As one of the most in-form players on the planet and returning to a layout he knows well there is very little to suggest that McIlroy won’t be challenging at the very top of the leaderboard come Sunday afternoon so I won’t be arguing with anyone taking the short price.
But I’ll be taking my top tip a little deeper into the betting as I really fancy the chances of South Korea’s Byeong Hun An (80/1).
On the back of Sungjae Im’s maiden victory last week, his fellow countryman could well be even more determined to join the PGA Tour winner’s circle.
An himself had a good week at PGA National though, finishing 4th after he battled back from an opening round of 76. This result came on the back of a top 30 at the WGC-Mexico and before that another top 10 in Phoenix.
At this event in 2019 he was 10th, his best finish at Bay Hill, and I expect him to improve again this week to secure at least a place.
This season on the PGA Tour An ranks 11th in scrambling and this could be a crucial statistic at Bay Hill.
