Andalucia Masters betting tips: Joe’s players to follow
Let’s kick things off with an outsider who I think has a nice each-way chance.
Alvaro Quiros (125/1 with bet365), it has to be said, is one of the most inconsistent players on tour at times, but he has shown on many occasions that he can compete at the top of a leaderboard.
Last week, he played in the final round of the BMW International Open alongside Rafa Cabrera Bello and was impressive on his way to a tied 3rd finish.
His recent form shows his game is trending in the right direction with an 18th place finish just a few weeks before last week’s outing.
Hailing from Spain, he will undoubtedly have some local support and, with a 16th place finish last year, he could well go even better this time.
Course form does seem to be a big factor in determining which players tend to go well in this tournament – there are exceptions though, of course.
Ashley Chesters seems to be a fan of Valderrama having finished 12th and 3rd in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
The Englishman’s recent performances have been showing signs of progression and he seems to be moving closer and closer to the final pages of leaderboards on Sunday – despite the occasional missed cut.
Chesters secured a share of 21st position at last week’s event and was tied for 42nd at the British Masters in May.
Because of the clear significance of course form and the confidence the 29-year-old will have gained from his solid week in Germany, I think he is very good value for at least a place at 60/1.
Finally, I like the look of Edoardo Molinari at 100/1.
Things seem to be coming together in terms of performances for the Italian, having made his last four cuts on the European Tour.
This good run culminated in a tied 3rd finish at the BMW International Open which sees him head to Spain in good form.
In the previous three stagings of this event, Molinari has not missed a cut and, last year, finished in 22nd place so he clearly knows his way around this course.
