Who will win the 3M Open?
3M Open betting: Short-odds fancies
With the amount of big names in the field this week, it is likely that at least a couple of those towards the head of the market will be lingering around the top of the leaderboard on Sunday afternoon.
Jason Day (10/1) is catching my eye considering his recent form and big-hitting.
Currently just sitting just outside the top 30 in driving distance, the Australian can certainly take this course apart if he is on his game and his troublesome back behaves.
Day recorded a tied 21st finish at last month’s US Open and in is last outing was tied for 8th at the Travelers, so the form is definitely there. A short but well-justified price.
Finally, I can’t resist backing Viktor Hovland (35/1).
The newly-turned professional have been thoroughly impressive in his first two starts, and in truth, has been good enough to compete on the PGA Tour for some time.
He has achieved finishes of T54 at the Travelers and T13 at the Rocket Mortgage and I think he will only get better.
Hovland has a modern style of play and like many of the successful players on tour, he has a good balance between power and finesse.
At that price there is definitely some value, even for those looking to stake more than a few quid on an each-way bet.
