Best Winter Golf Boots

Adidas Codechaos Laceless Golf Shoe

5 star review
winter golf boots

RRP £160

Golf boots are not easy to manufacture in a way that makes them cool and fashionable, but these laceless golf shoes do a pretty good job of it. They don’t conform to regular style but do a great job keeping you warm and dry in the wettest conditions.

First putting them on I love how the primeknit textile upper hugs the natural shape of my foot, I feel like the shoe fits me rather than me fitting into a shoe. I also like how it hugs my ankle as a second sock, they are really comfortable and won’t rub or cause blisters.

I wore these shoes in an absolute deluge in my usual Sunday morning game with the lads.

I really enjoyed wearing these shoes out on the golf course. They did a great job of keeping me warm and I didnt suffer at all with wet feet on what was a really wet day. Even the most waterproof shoes let water in over the top when trudging through heavy, wet rough but with the sock like lining being waterproof and tight around my ankle, this was never going to happen.

These are obviously spikeless golf shoes, which is usually something I avoid when the course is wet. I often slip pushing incorrectly off my right foot in the swing, so always look for something with a lot of big spikes. Adidas’s twist grip wraparound outsole is much grippier than I was expecting, as not only did I not slip when swinging but there was no hint of slipping when scampering up steep slopes around the course.

Looking great under a pair of trousers or waterproofs, these golf shoes are a great solution to the winter footwear problem that we all face, as they are so comfortable.

FootJoy Stormwalker golf winter golf boot

4 star review
winter golf boots

RRP £109.99

FootJoy has been around long enough to have seen how wet and muddy the average golf club in the UK gets to know that there needs to be a solution to keep golfers going.

Although a far cry from the casual, non-golf shoes I would normally go for, when I first put them on, I really felt like my feet were locked in and secure in the boots.

They are made out of a soft premium full grain leather that you could wear, polish, and keep going forever.

The shoes performed very well out on the golf course. Interestingly I found myself not avoiding wet patches or standing water that I would normally stay clear of, and I also clambered up some slopes I would normally walk around facing no issue at all.

I’m fairly prone to slipping in the downswing when the grass is wet, but I didnt have any issue in these boots at all. So that’s a huge win for me and my golf.

I had absolutely no issue with wet feet during these three hours in the rain, and these boots have FJ’s standard 1-year waterproof warranty that I’m sure you could keep going for much longer if you look after them properly. The boots also have a thermal lining to help keep your feet warm. This isn’t something I needed on my test but something I look forward to as the temperature drops deep into winter.

Functionally these are brilliant, and I do recommend golfers try them if they play all year round and play a wet golf course.

Duca Del Cosma Prato waterproof golf boot

5 star review
winter golf boots

RRP £219

Straight out of the box these look great, the red sole and logo looks smart against the grey, and they absolutely could be seen in a high end high street fashion shop. These are not your average golf boots.

Designed with a wet muddy winter in mind, they are made from a premium soft Italian Nappa leather, which cleans up very easily, and a fleece lining that will keep you playing deep into December.

I played golf and tested these boots around Baildon golf club, a very recognisable course to golfers in Yorkshire for being on the side of a moor, where it is always windy and on this day, pretty wet. I also found the boots to be extremely waterproof. My feet stayed completely dry throughout all of my unfortunate visits to the deep stuff thanks to Duca Del Cosma’s waterproof bootie system.

My initial concern with the Prato waterproof golf boots is that as spikeless golf shoes, there might be some slipping or lack of traction. This wasn’t at all the case as the spikeless rubber nubs are designed in multiple directions, to give you 360 degrees of grip.

It’s also worth pointing out how comfy these boots are, I wore them in the car on the way to the course, out on the course, in the car on the way home, and then out to lunch afterwards surviving the whole day without one urge to take the boots off.

These boots have been an excellent addition to the golf wardrobe. They feel great on, keep you warm and dry, and actually look very smart. Duca Del Cosma has done a fantastic job.

Stuburt Evolve Sport II waterproof boot

4 star review
winter golf boots

RRP £74.99

Playing in grotty weather can be unpleasant enough without throwing cold, soggy feet into the mix.

These were definitely some of the bigger shoes for the size. This may be to accommodate thick socks or even two pairs, which could be an asset.

They are quite sturdy boots and provide good support when walking, including over rough terrain. The spiked rubber outsole did not look anything out of the ordinary for a golf shoe but provided good grip, and on wet grass, they were reassuringly grippy.

I had reservations about making a full swing with these and how restricting they may feel. They were not too bad. They definitely feel different to golf shoes but not necessarily significantly worse. By virtue of the boot style, they provide very good overall support, especially around the ankle.

Having worn these while playing and with time to consider these boots, I came to realise that these have been designed to fulfil a particular function. They cannot be compared to golf shoes. They fill a need for waterproof footwear in bad weather where golf shoes will provide insufficient protection.

These are functional shoes, and they achieve their aim. They are highly waterproof and have good grip. It’s definitely something to consider adding to your golf gear for the worst winter conditions.
