Our Powakaddy Compact C2 review took place on the course at Hillsborough in Sheffield, where we also had the chance to try out the fantastic FW3i, FW5i and FW7s trolleys as well.

But it was the Compact C2 which really caught our eye as the first model of its kind from the brand.

Powakaddy Compact C2 review – First impressions

Powakaddy Compact C2 review

A compact model was all that was missing from the Powakaddy line-up so we were really keen to see it in action.

What’s great about this trolley from the outset is that it comes in a really neat little bag.

It’ll take up hardly any space in the boot or can just as easily be placed on the back seat or in one of the footwells of your car.

We really love the gunmetal finish and yellow trim – it’s very similar in style to the brand’s flagship FW7s model.

Powakaddy Compact C2 review – The technology

One of the potential issues with a compact trolley is the number of folds which can ultimately add weight and inconvenience to the golfer.

But Powakaddy believe they have solved that problem with the introduction of the innovative C2.

Once folded there’s an integrated carry handle and at just 9.8kg it’ll free up space in your car while adding little weight.

Powakaddy insist the C2 doesn’t compromise on features with a full-colour widescreen display, USB charging port, compartments for balls, tees and pencils and an adjustable handle.

There’s a powerful 230w motor which has been given the Quiet Mark – the industry seal of approval for manufacturers who make products that are err… quiet.

The handle has built-in flex to absorb the effects of rough terrain and the C2 also has the superb Plug n’ Play battery which just slots in without any wires.

Powakaddy Compact C2 review – The results

As with all our trolley reviews we feel the substantive part of the review takes place between the car and the first tee and then the 18th green back to the car and home.

Basically, performance out on the course is often a given. How it assembles, folds away and transports is really important.

Powakaddy say the C2 has ‘two-folds’ which it does but it’s far from a two-step process to get it assembled and folded away. There are a few more small steps

However, it really couldn’t be easier to do. We were given a quick demonstration and were easily able to do it ourselves.

It’s an incredibly intuitive and well thought-out product from Powakaddy. Every part of the assembly process is smooth and gives you the impression it is a well-made, premium product.

Powakaddy Compact C2 review

Out on the course, the trolley performs exceptionally well. Again, it’s very smooth, quiet and incredibly easy to operate.

The colour display is nice and clear with a very useful battery indicator. After 18 holes the battery had about 40 per cent life left.

It has a feature where you can tell it to go 10, 15, 20 yards etc… and then stop which is really useful when sending your trolley to the right side of the green and towards the next tee.

The Compact C2 basically has all the same features and screen as the FW5i trolley which has more bells and whistles than the FW3i but not quite as many as the flagship FW7s.

Powakaddy Compact C2 review – NCG verdict

This trolley has been quite a long time in the making. We got the sense from Powakaddy that they maybe could have released it earlier but wanted to make sure it was right on the money.

And that’s exactly what this trolley is. It has all the superb performance benefits that we’ve come to expect but will now really appeal to those who are light on space in their cars or homes.

It looks fantastic, works like a dream and will take a bit of the hassle out of transporting it to and from the course.

We do think the ’two-fold’ marketing message from Powakaddy isn’t quite as simple as that. There are a few other elements to the folding process.

However, take it from us that it’s simple, straight-forward and easy to do. We reckon it can go from its compact state to fully assembled and vice-versa, in about eight seconds.

This trolley really adds to what is an impressive fleet from Powakaddy so it’s no surprise  to see the brand going from strength to strength at the moment.

SRP: £599.99 (18-hole battery)/£649.99 (36-hole battery)
Warranty: Three years
