Key benefits and downsides
| Key benefits | Downsides |
|---|---|
| Lightweight– As per the name this bag is all about not weighing a golfer down but proving a light 1.9kg frame for your clubs. | Lack of strap/back paddle padding: Whilst not a major flaw there isn’t a great deal of padding. If the golf bag isn’t filled this won’t be an issue but if extra weight is added carrying might not be as comfortable. |
| Plenty of storage – Whilst the lightweight properties may fool you, there is still 10 cleverly designed pockets to keep your belongings in. | |
| Moulded 4 way top – The soft moulded top design allows better durability so no more wear marks when your clubs sit. |
First Impressions
I must address the elephant in the room, so to say, the ham and egg print. It’s a collection that aims to represent the perfect golfing duo. When one struggles, the other steps up as per the classic breakfast pairing.
Ogio release many of these fun collections aiming to make golf bag designs a little more fun. If this isn’t your style, not to worry, plain design are available too.
Four way top
The 4 way top has been cleverly designed having been moulded. This means that the rubbery texture stops for any wear around where your clubs sit as you tend to see on material tops.

Pockets
Despite being a lightweight bag there is still an impressive 10 pockets in this bag. There’s the standard full length apparel pocket, inside here you can find a separate smaller ‘secret stash’ pocket.
There is a nicely sized central ball pocket, which opens widely with a double zipper. This is accessible on the move which is a good thing.
On top of that there is a smaller zip pockets ideal for tees etc. A mesh elasticated pocket is also a handy for quick access, even great for fitting a range finder in.

Straps
The straps use Ogio’sPivot Puck strap system, where a central swiveling disc is used to balance the weight of the bag across your back. This design also helps to stop any twisting when picking up the bag. In terms of comfort, the straps had a nice amount of padding in them and they sat nicely thanks to the adjustability.
The straps are clippable, meaning they can be quickly removed if should you wish to for using on a cart.
How I undertook the review
I was lucky enough to invited to a launch day for the Ogio Ham and Egg collection where I got the chance to get a hands on look at the whole range. I had the chance to use the Featherlite out on the course at Ferndown golf club.
Since then I’ve used the bag several times at my home course, looking at durability, comfort and the overall carrying experience.
What I found
Firstly, packing this bag with all my belongings was easy enough. All of the pockets were very logical and fit everything that I needed for a round in. The left handside pocket opens up the fit in a drinks bottle, there was plenty of space for golf balls and the apparel pocket was spacious enough to. The Featherlite offers pencil holder, a Velcro glove patch as well as a handy mesh outer pocket for popping things in and out quickly.

I liked how easy this bag was to move. A front handle is always very handy for getting a bag in and out of the car. Speaking of getting it in the car this felt like a breeze. It’s a slim design and weighing only 1.9kg meant that it was really easy to manoeuvre and store.
The 4 way top Ogio have used on the Featherlite is really clever and something that continues throughout their whole family of bags. The moulded design removes the risk of material wearing away where the clubs sit at rest in the bag. The rubberised texture also eliminated the dreaded clattering of clubs as you walk down a fairway.

In terms of comfort, the breathable foam straps aren’t overly thick but with the correct adjustment they do sit nicely. As the bag isn’t heavy it does reduce the need of thick padded straps. The area which rests on your bag has a mesh covering but has very little padding, again this does work as it’s not heavy (depending on how much you pack the bag).
The material make up of the Featherlite Stand Bag is a 200D 3-line mini ripstop. This is designed to be lightweight and durable. I would say that it’s very thin but so far no wear and tear so, so far so good. Ogio doesn’t list the waterproof/resistance of this bag. I would say that it would handle showers but not sure it would hold up in much more.
NCG Final Say
Overall, this is a great option if you’re looking for a lightweight carry bag option. Ogio offers something a little different with their unique designs and so if you’re wanting something a little more exciting I would recommend their design collections. There is also matching Callaway golf balls!

In terms of price, the Featherlite is set at a higher price point than other similar products on the market which is a downside.
How it compares to other bags
The Ping Moonlander is a very comparable product to the Featherlite stand bag from Ogio. Both in terms of weight and sizing. The Ping only has 6 pockets with the Feastherlite offering 10, so you get slightly more storage space.
