Not every round of golf requires a full 14-club setup and a bulky tour bag. Sometimes, less really is more. That’s exactly why Sunday bags continue to grow in popularity, offering golfers a lighter, more relaxed way to carry their clubs around a course.

I don’t know about you, but for me there’s something refreshing about heading to the course with just a handful of clubs and a lightweight carry bag over your shoulder.

It’s not just a more relaxed golfing experience these Sunday Golf bags deliver, they do so in a fun and fashionable way.

So, whether you’re heading out for a quick evening nine, a winter practice session, or simply prefer walking the course with fewer clubs, these are some of the best Sunday Golf bags worth considering this season.

Sunday Golf Storm Ryder Waterproof Golf Bag

I had the choice of a couple Sunday Golf bags, but I chose to go with the Storm Ryder for one very good reason; it offers better protection against the elements. Playing the majority of my golf on the British Isles means I am no stranger to adverse weather, so having a bag that helps to combat that is a bit of a necessity.

Additionally, I am always on the look out for things that are going to help with my game. That tends to be forgiving golf clubs, but it turns out lightweight golf bags are also a big help.

The best compliment I can give the Sunday Golf Storm Ryder Waterproof stand bag is that it’s now my number one option for the season ahead.

PROS

  • Shock, it’s lightweight!
  • Plenty of storage
  • Holds 14 golf clubs with ease
  • Buggy-friendly

CONS

  • Lack of colour options

The Loma XL from Sunday Golf is a great little golf bag. It has a 3 way top that can hold up to 8 clubs – 9 at a push! It’s slim and lightweight weighing in at just 1.5kg.

Unlike some smaller bags the club dividers are full length and there is a padded double strap to make carrying easier. Full length legs keep the bag stable on the ground and a firm carry handle at the top is great to help pick it up and go.

It is also ideal for juniors or for those starting out in the game.

PROS

  • Lightweight design
  • Durable construction
  • Good storage for the size

CONS

  • No rain hood

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
