Introduction
TaylorMade has expanded its Spider family for 2026 with an all-new lineup featuring four distinct models. Alongside the familiar Spider Tour and Tour X, the range now includes the winged-back Spider Tour F and the more compact, mallet-style Spider Tour V.

One of the most eye-catching updates is the new “Torched” finish, a premium aesthetic inspired by the custom Spider Tour X used by Rory McIlroy. The finish gives the putters a distinctive appearance while maintaining the high-MOI performance characteristics that have made the Spider series one of the most popular mallet putter families on tour and among amateur golfers alike.
I’ve been testing both the Spider Tour X Torched and the Tour F on the course to evaluate their looks, feel, forgiveness, and overall performance. Here’s how they compare and whether either deserves a place in your bag…

NCG SUMMARY
Both the Spider Tour X and F sit great behind the ball. The Tour X offers a larger alignment aid that really helps to frame the ball at address. Whereas the Tour F has a simple single line that in white helps to contrast against the torched finish. Both I found it be very appealing to look at over the ball.
In comparison to other mallet putters, both models felt quite light. Yet this didn’t impact their stability throughout the stroke.
Overall, I really enjoyed using both models and importantly holed plenty of putts with each!
PROS
- Torched colourway is stunning
- Nice variation of alignment aid, True Path or Single Sight Line

First Impressions
Wow, TaylorMade have really pulled it out of the bag with this year’s Spider Tour putters with a stunning new torched finish!
This design has been inspired by the Spider Tour X that Rory McIlroy used with win the career grand slam earlier this year with his torched finished. Unlike Rory’s model, the finish is much more durable with a Torched PVD coating. This is better lasting for the everyday golfer.
As you can see TaylorMade has kept two alignment aid options, the TruePath and a single sight line. I like how for 2026 there is a wider variation in models, appealing to a lot more players. So, whether you like a wider alignment aid or a simple, more traditional look, there is something to suit every golfer.
The headcover has also been reworked, with a deep brown torched colourway with blue detailing to match the blue base of the putter and grip detailing.

How I undertook the review
I tested these putters at my home club over the weekend as well as at an away course for a round of golf. This meant that I got to use the putters on different types of greens with different speeds.
Technology
The White TPU Pure Roll™ insert remains in place for this year’s Spider Tour models. Constructed from a mixture of Surlyn and aluminium, the grooves sit at a 45° angle. This aims to grab that ball on impact, helping to produce an end over end roll. The roll is a key feature of a Spider as it aims to improve straight line performance and distance.
Behind the face, is a HYBRAR ECHO® Damper works to remove unwanted vibrations which helps to deliver a premium sound and feel at impact. The body itself is hollow, allowing weights to be pushed to the perimeters. This shift in centre of gravity (CG) helps to increase the stability of the putter and MOI.
A new textured aluminium sole plate that not only adds a new look but improve the sit points. This means more sole stability so less chance the ball has of slipping on the grass.
Spider Tour X Torched
The Spider Tour X is a more compact head shaping than the standard Spider Tour putter and it’s very much a shaping that suits my eye. I put this straight in the bag over the weekend and was very excited to get to the first green to see how it performed – which started off great, holing an 18ft putt!
I was surprised by how light the putter felt as some mallets can be very heavy yet I didn’t think this affected the stability of the stroke. The greens were rolling pretty quick and the softer face insert really helped with this. Off the putter face a stroke produced a very nice sound, which is always a nice bonus.

I tend to preference a larger alignment aid on a putter and so the True Path, wider lines which really well for me. I found the width of the lines really helped frame the ball at address, giving me lots of confidence in where I was aiming. I felt like it also helped with my stroke as I could clearly see how the putter head was moving away from the ball.
Overall, I really enjoyed using the Spider Tour X. Visually it was very appealing to me and I’m sure it will be to any golfer who likes a big alignment option. TaylorMade does also offer this model in a single sight line, for players who prefer more of a simple look at address.

Spider Tour F Torched
Having used the Spider Tour X only the day before and falling in love with it, I was ready to see how the Spider Tour F performed out on the course. In terms of shaping this is a winged back style putter, that felt to have a touch larger head profile than the X.
The Tour F model comes with a single sight line at the top which makes sense with its design – which looks amazing with the Torched PVD finish.

Again, out on the course, I loved how the ball felt off of the face. Admittedly, I was at a different course where the greens were slightly slower but it was nice to see how the face insert compared on different speed greens. The sound produced was still just as desirable as with the Tour X and I must say this was one of my best putting performances in a while!
Overall, I really like the new shaping addition to the Spider family. At first I didn’t think that it would be style that I would use but having used it, I very much enjoyed its looks, feel and overall performance.

NCG Final Verdict
TaylorMade have nailed the 2026 line of Spider Tour putters, introducing a new Torched PVD finish the range looks unreal whilst keeping the high level of performance that you’d expect from a Spider. Both the Tour X and F sit great behind the ball and the new variation of alignment options means there’s more configuration options to suit every golfer.
If you’re looking for a new mallet putter, I’d very much recommend checking out the new Spider Tour Torched PVD line up!
