Under Armour Charged Draw 2
4.5 star review
NCG SUMMARY

Under Armour are a shoe brand you can trust. Just like Nike and Adidas, they have pretty much perfected sports shoes, so it’s great to be able to get that technology and performance in a golf shoe.

The Charged Draw 2 Wide golf shoe is comfortable straight out of the box thanks to the Charged Cushioning midsole uses compression moulded foam for ultimate responsiveness & durability.

If you’re looking for a new pair of waterproof shoes that will perform all year round in any conditions without breaking the bank, these Under Armours are an excellent option

First Impressions

I’ve never owned a pair of Under Armour shoes before, golf or otherwise. I’m a big fan of the brand, have owned plenty of their gym kit, and even love Jordan Speith, but I’ve never thought to get a pair of the shoes.

I ordered a grey pair as I’m fed up with trashing white shoes in the mud in the wet winter/spring we’ve been cursed with in the UK recently, and absolutely loved the look of these out of the box. These shoes will be versatile moving into warmer weather suiting any colour chino I have in my wardrobe.

The simplicity of design and shape of the shoe are excellent. I normally would always lean towards a leather shoe but the TPU outsole is really flexible and light and feels modern somehow.

Putting them on, I couldn’t believe how comfortable they are. These UA shoes have Charged Cushioning midsole that uses compression moUlded foam which results in maximum comfort. They do have that running/gym shoe comfort you would hope to get from this huge brand.

I received a size 7 in the Charged Draw 2 Wide shoes and they fit perfectly. They feature an anti-microbial Ortholite sockliner for unmatched underfoot comfort & breathability, and I am extremely interested in something that will help my feet sweat less during a round of golf, which is something I’ve found before from a synthetic shoe.

On Course Testing

I wore the Under Armour shoes during a round at my home club Sand Moor on a wet spring morning, and this shoe is perfect for that venue. The turf is a bit soft on the first 4 holes which put the grip to the test, but then firms up after that which is more of a test of comfort.

The traction and stability I had in these shoes was incredible. There was no chance of slipping and I felt like I had a tremendous grip of the ground on all different types of sloping lies, which gives me confidence when creating shots out on the golf course.

The 19th hole

I wouldn’t walk straight to the bar with these golf shoes on, and certainly wouldn’t wear them anywhere casually. They are very much golf shoes. They look great and but with the spikes you are certainly not going to go straight from the course to the pub without changing your foot wear.

jordan speith

I really liked how easy they were to clean and how smart they washed up to be. I feel like I could make these shoes last years with some care which for the value price you can get them for is a huge victory for golfers.

I will absolutely continue to wear these shoes in winter and wet spring. They are warm, waterproof and go well with trousers and waterproof trousers and are absolutely worth the price!

About the author

Callaway Epic Max driver review
Jack Backhouse

A member of the PGA for 13 years, Jack has lived golf for more than half his life. Inspired by Tiger Wood’s winning putt at the 2008 US Open, an obsession began with watching slow motion golf swings on the internet and reading What’s In The Bag articles in magazines.

Not destined for a life behind the desk in a pro shop, Jack has focussed more on coaching, working closely with regional teams in North Yorkshire and helping golfers of all levels on their journey to enjoying playing the game more. Jack has coached many junior golfers into the county teams, and once worked with a player at the 2018 Open Championship at Carnoustie.

After letting his game fall apart prior to COVID, Jack rediscovered his love for playing golf after joining Silloth Golf Club in 2020 and whipping round the windy, firm links course. Playing regularly with a half set of clubs he has a passion for shot making and developing skill, and claims to have the sharpest 30-100 yard game in the North of England (only because he doesn’t know anyone in the South), and now maintains a +1 handicap at a club much closer to home, Sand Moor GC.

Jack has always tinkered with his equipment, once building his own Frankenstein one length set of clubs after watching Bryson DeChambeau burst onto the scene after winning the US Amateur. He firmly believes in getting custom fit and is happy to debate anyone about blade irons being superior to any other iron category.

Jack loves: playing quickly, 2 ball golf, match play, heathland courses, pencil bags, foursomes, Tiger Wood’s swing 2005-2009.

Jack hates: buggies, unnecessary trees, giving shots, the 7 iron loft debate, graphite shaft lovers weird superiority complex.
