Cobra have expanded their King players’ family line for 2021 with the new Cobra King Tec hybrid.

I love the matte black and silver aesthetic on the crown of this club - it looks incredible. I also like the really futuristic styling on the sole.

The overall profile is slightly oversized which inspires a lot of confidence over the ball.

Cobra King Tec Hybrid: The technology

This is the first Cobra hybrid to feature a Pwrshell face design as we see in the Radspeed irons. This is a thin, forged L-Cup insert that is extra flexible to create faster ball speeds and higher launch.

There is a Carbon Fiber Crown that saves 10 grams of weight which Cobra have repositioned low and back to lower the centre of gravity.

To optimise performance for a wide range of golfers the hybrids feature an adjustable weight and loft system. There are three adjustable weights on the sole. This can be adjusted to the toe or heel to make the club more draw or fade bias. Alternatively, they can be repositioned at the front for a neutral and lower launching ball flight. The Cobra Myfly hosel also features eight settings so you can adjust the loft and ball flight.

Each hybrid comes with a Cobra Connect grip powered by Arccos caddie.

Golf shoes that will leave your feet purring: Puma take their spikeless game to the next level with Alphacat

Not yet tested by NCG
Puma Alphacat

Sporty golf shoes are all the rage and the new Puma Alphacat is looking to take that up a notch as the brand's most advanced spikeless model to date, with high-tech materials designed to drive up performance.

Manufacturer claims, not tested by NCG: Puma Alphacat: First impressions

I love the styling and the contrasts of different colours and textures across the shoe, and I've roped in our trainer-enthusiast Alex Perry to give his thoughts.

"Puma released my favourite golf shoe of 2020 with the RS-G and they have always excelled when it comes to sporty-looking golf shoes," he says.

"The Alphacat is no different.

"While the RS-G was much more in your face - in a good way - there is so much beauty in the simplicity of the Alphacat. I can't wait to get them out on the course."

I think he likes them. Right, so what about performance?

Puma Alphacat: The technology

Key technologies include a Proadapt multi-material outsole which delivers stability and traction on a variety of different surfaces. The outer section provides grip on soft surfaces, while the central rubber section grips best on harder surfaces, so you can have exceptional grip on all types of lie.

Comfort is a key driver in shoe purchases today, and Puma’s Adapt Foam provides under-foot cushioning providing impact resistance and energy return.

Finally the upper exo shell is made from an engendered mesh with a TPU film. This provides structure and support for the whole foot and makes the shoe waterproof.
