FootJoy are the number one shoe in golf. But, how does their apparel range stand-up?
Week in, week out, the brand is trusted by some of the game’s biggest names on the professional circuits. Last year alone, five major champions picked up some of the biggest prizes in the sport wearing FootJoy shoes or clothing.
Spring and summer time means long days on the golf course for most. So to handle everything from early tee times to warm summer evenings, FootJoy has a range of gear that offers a clean, classic look the brand has grown a reputation over.
Here are some of our favourite bits from their mens’s and women’s collection for 2026…

FootJoy Tempo Hoodie

The Tempo Hoodie is part of the FJ TempoSeries range which also comprises a lightweight vest, an excellent midlayer and a full-zip jacket. It is constructed from a polyester 81%, elastane 19% blend which produces a fabric that is designed to be stretchy and lightweight. It is also moisture wicking but lacks the DWR finish as seen on the Tempo Tech Midlayer which offers some protection against light rain.
Elasticated cuffs and hem provide an element of structure but, overall, the look is very casual and relaxed. It comes in six sizes and three colours. I tested the version in medium size and Chambray colour. Chambray is a duck egg blue and suited the relaxed style of the garment nicely.
There are a couple of contrasting navy zippered side pockets that meet in the middle. The hood drawstrings are also navy. The hood sits perfectly ok when not deployed. I’m not sure what sort of weather would make me want to put the hood up, so I feel it’s a bit irrelevant.
The fabric of the entire garment is lightly textured that offers a bit of visual interest. There is a single logo to the back left shoulder which I think represents the TempoSeries range. I nearly didn’t find an FJ logo which would have been a first! But no, there it is, just beneath the left pocket.

On the course it is comfortable to wear because it is stretchy and lightweight. Because it is light in weight, it doesn’t offer strong thermal properties, and it wouldn’t function as a standalone midlayer on cooler days but is easy to layer over. If hoodies are your thing, then I think you’ll find a lot to like in the Tempo Hoodie. For me, it would be more at home on a surfer beach than a golf course, particularly when the Tempo Tech Midlayer is a similar and, for me, significantly superior option.

The fit is a nicely tailored and yet relaxed. It comes in six sizes and three colours. I tested the version in medium size and Forest Green colour. It fitted true to size and the Forest Green looked on point.
Elasticated cuffs and hem enhance the fit. There are a couple of zippered side pockets that meet in the middle. I’m not sure I’d use them for anything, but they are unobtrusive. The fabric has a texture to the side panels and arms that offers a bit of visual interest. There is an FJ logo to the left front collar and the upper back. I would have preferred just one.
On the course it is a delight to wear because it is so stretchy and lightweight. It wouldn’t function as a standalone midlayer on cooler days, but I think it will be a staple for me in our cool shoulder season UK weather because it is so easy to layer over and under. It also stows away compactly should the conditions allow.
It is a little on the pricey side but because it is equally suited to on and off course activities, I think it represents decent value, and it comes highly recommended.
PROS
- Excellent layering piece.
- Quality construction.
- Stows away easily.
CONS
- Nothing.

There are marks on the belt to assist with the cutting to size. The only point I would make is that there is a choice of five perforated closure holes, and I would have expected that the middle of the five holes would be 30in from the 30in mark. It was in fact an inch out, which I thought was intriguing.
That said, it is straightforward enough to cut to size and, hey presto, you have your own smart custom-fit belt which looks like it will give years of useful service.
PROS
- Genuine leather.
- Adjustable fit.
- Smart buckle.
CONS
- Just one colour.
RRP: £50.00
Sizes: One size
Colours: Black Smooth

It’s a lightweight make up being 78% Nylon and 22% Elastane. The four way stretch material makes it very easy to move and swing in.
I wore this jacket in a small which is my standard size. I enjoyed the fit and found it to be very comfortable. Having put this in my bag for a couple of holes it did come out with minimal creases. The almost hidden zip pockets are a useful addition. FJ has used an anti-microbial finish to help with odour build up too.
PROS
- Sporty style
- Nice range of colourways
- Can be worn on and off the course
CONS
- None
RRP: £85.00
