In the heart of the town of Dumfries, The Cairndale Hotel & Spa is a family-run Victorian sandstone retreat. The hotel is renowned for its warmth and welcoming atmosphere which is immediately apparent on arrival, when guests are greeted by a colourful mural and open-plan reception that sets the tone.

The hotel has 86 rooms – from Classic and Superior to Luxury King, Four Poster and family options.

Culinary offerings include the Reivers restaurant, Spa Café and The Lounge. Each deliver modern Scottish and British-inspired dishes – from bao buns with slow-cooked pork to Eton Mess for dessert.

The hotel’s new casual dining restaurant, The Oak, is now open too. Packed with links to the hotel’s past associations with the town, it features a statement solid oak bar and furnishings, wide range of eclectic fittings, artwork, bric-a-brac, antiques, conversation pieces and its original red neon sign.

All of the above makes The Cairndale the perfect base for a golf trip.

Dumfries is effectively the capital of this rural region of south-west Scotland. It is reachable within an hour of crossing the border from England via the M6.

From here, you have access to multiple parkland and links courses. These range from Southerness and Powfoot on the Solway coast to the charming likes of Dumfries & County inland.

The Cairndale specialise in offering customisable golf packages. So, whether you are looking for a links-only trip or prefer to mix and match, the hotel are able to help arrange and accommodate your desired trip.

And after a day on the links, what better way to relax and recover than in the luxurious, adults-only spa, which includes a Himalayan salt sauna and an ice plunge for the ultimate in muscle rejuvenation.

Packages here can include accommodation, high-quality restaurant dining, golf, and spa access, all at a discounted price so that you can get the best of all worlds.

What really sets the hotel apart is its exceptional spa. The Cairndale Spa is Scotland’s newest – and only – 5 Bubble Luxury Spa, as rated by The Good Spa Guide. This adults-only area features thermal pools, multiple saunas (infrared, Himalayan salt, aroma, herbal), steam rooms, Rasul, Hammam, seaweed baths, and a refreshing “Cairndale Dook” cold plunge and ice bath.

In summary, The Cairndale Hotel & Spa beautifully combines historic charm, modern comforts, and indulgent luxury. This is on top of unrivalled spa facilities and flexible, value-packed golf packages. Whether you’re planning a single round or a multi-course golfing getaway, it stands out as an ideal hub for golfers exploring south-west Scotland. The ultimate destination to unwind and recharge.
