Reason for a Scarcroft Golf Club review
Scarcroft is known as one of the better golf courses in Leeds and, is only two minutes away from the Sports Pub office. Having not played the course before, the visit was well overdue.
Where is Scarcroft Golf Club
It is just off of the A58 between Leeds and Wetherby.
What to expect
Scarcroft is a classy, matured golf course set in stunning wooded parkland. With a mixture of long narrow holes and short eye catching holes, this golf course is a real pleasure to play.
A tough first couple of holes require some pure ball striking. It generally eases as you go on, but the front nine can really tear you apart.
My best bit
The closing stretch. This part of the golf course offers some real birdie opportunities. If you still have your scorecard intact a strong finish can turn an average round into a great one.
What to look out for
The 6th is stroke index 1 and it isn’t hard to see why. A tight tree-lined fairway, with a slight dogleg to the right, requires a solid left to right tee shot.
When I go back
I will keep the driver in the bag on the first few holes. The rough was well up and it was difficult to make good contact.
