Built around the independent, course-first approach of the NCG Top 100s, the new app gives golfers a new way to discover and share their favourite courses as well as rank their favourite tracks

National Club Golfer’s independent golf course rankings are now available through a dedicated app, giving golfers a new way to rank the courses they play.

The app builds on the success of NCG Top 100s, which has established itself as a leading independent source of golf course rankings in the UK and beyond.

Available through the app, golfers can explore the definitive NCG Top 100s rankings. They can also personalise their experiences by reviewing courses they have played, leaving their own ratings and creating personalised rankings. Additionally, they can curate lists within their own account.

At the heart of NCG Top 100s is a commitment to evaluating golf courses on their golfing merit alone.

Compiled by chairman Dan Murphy, NCG Top 100s takes a course-first approach. The rankings are based on the quality of the golf experience from the first tee to the final green.

There is no commercial influence on the rankings. Instead, they are designed to be as transparent and honest as possible. Sole focus on the course allows the addition of nine-hole and 12-hole layouts alongside traditional 18-hole championship venues.

The launch of the app also gives golfers the opportunity to become part of the NCG Top 100s experience. As well as building a collection of courses they have played, they are able to assemble a list of places they want to visit and draft their own Top 100.

For golfers looking to organise their very own golf trip, the app provides a simple and informative way to discover both highly rated courses and hotspots for championship golf across the United Kingdom. Additionally, the value list offers insight into outstanding golf at compelling prices.

All rankings are seasonally updated and in line with the traditional British golfing season from April to October.

The new app is the best place to catch all of the latest NCG Top 100s content. This includes the newest episodes of the NCG Top 100s Podcast, written travel blogs and features from our content team.

Max Mcvittie

A bit of a late bloomer to the game of golf, Max fell in love with the sport when he attended Saturday coaching sessions down at his local golf club after being inspired by friends and family members.

Max has remained a member of Eden Golf Club in Carlisle for a number of years now as he looks to get his handicap down into single figures. Most of his golfing career has been spent battling a permanent slice off the tee, which has led to some ugly rounds.

Having studied at the University of Sunderland, Max is starting out his dream career in sports journalism. During his time at university, he picked up valuable work experience at Reach PLC, BBC Radio Cumbria and GiveMeSport, whilst also getting work published in the Teesside Live. He also spent time working at a local weekly newspaper, Eskdale and Liddesdale Advertiser, as a general news reporter partially covering some local sport just north of the border in Langholm.

Max has just started his journey with the NCG working as the assistant equipment editor. He looks forwarded to reviewing the latest golf equipment, taking up an interest in reviews when buying his first golf club, a Cleveland RTX wedge.

With his bag not going under too many changes throughout the last few years, Max carries an M3 driver, Titleist GT3 Fairway Wood, M2 hybrid, a set of M2 irons, Callaway Jaws wedges and a TaylorMade Spider putter. And yes, Max is a bit of a self-proclaimed TaylorMade fan boy.
