Author: Alfie Bugg

Hailing from a family of golf lovers, Alfie first picked up a set of clubs at eight-years-old on a family holiday in the Isle of Mull- and he hasn't looked back since.

A dedicated junior athlete, Alfie was an enthusiastic golfer and a National Champion Long Jump as a teenager, before a nasty knee injury allowed him to fulfil his passion for writing and attend university to study Sports Journalism.

Weeks after graduating from Liverpool John Moores University, Alfie covered his first Open Championship in 2026 and was stood greenside as Ryan Fox holed the winning putt at Royal Birkdale. He also has experience working at World Rugby during the 2025 Women's Rugby World Cup and was a media assistant at Southport FC.

Born and raised from just outside York, Alfie enjoys the rural landscapes of some of Yorkshire's finest courses and frequents his local Selby Golf Club. As a full-time slicer of the ball, Alfie plays for the love of the game rather than the number on the scorecard, and is working on reducing his mid-teens handicap.
