Phil Mickelson has made a few adjustments to his equipment in 2019 and they have paid off already.
Lefty had already recorded a T2 finish at the Desert Classic in January and then recorded his first victory of the 2019 season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
What’s in Phil Mickelson’s bag?
Mickelson put the new Callaway Epic Flash driver into the bag for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, but after a poor performance on the tee he decided to go back to the Callaway Rogue Sub Zero and will continue to use it through to The Masters.
Despite his woes with the Epic Flash driver, Mickelson has kept the Epic Flash fairway wood in play. The changes to his driver and his new fairway helped him hit all of the fairways during his opening round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, a career first for Phil.
Lefty opts for a mixed set up when it comes to his irons. For his longer irons, he has chosen to go with a Callaway X Forged Utility for his 3-iron and a Callaway Epic Pro for his 4-iron.
He also uses Callaway X Forged 18 for his 5-iron and for his shorter irons (6-PW) he has the Callaway Apex MB 18 irons in the bag.
The clubs that everyone associates Mickelson with are his wedges, he currently has Callaway Mack Daddy wedges (54˚, 60˚, 64˚) with PM grind.
Mickelson is still using the Odyssey Versa #9 White putter which has been in his bag for a number of years now. When he’s rolling the ball like he has been this week at Pebble Beach, there’s no wonder he hasn’t bothered to change it.
One of the most interesting changes to Mickelson’s bag has been his golf ball. Despite the fact he is still using the Callaway Chrome Soft X he has decided to add the Triple Track Technology that is used on the new ERC Soft to aid putting alignment.

Matthew has been playing golf since he was around 13 and took up the game at a local nine-hole municipal course with his friends before joining Pontefract & District Golf Club just over the hedge.
Still a member of Pontefract with a handicap of 3, he currently sits on the board of directors to help with digital and marketing initiatives in order to improve membership and visitor income.
Matthew graduated university with a First Class in Sports Journalism from Leeds Trinity University and has been working in the golf industry since graduating.
NCG’s social media & marketing manager, Matthew’s main job role is to increase website traffic to the National Club Golfer website via our email and social media channels as well as driving entries to grow our NCG Top 100s Tour events amongst other tasks.
Not one to change his equipment too often, Matthew currently plays the TaylorMade M2 driver which has lasted the test of time in his bag. Elsewhere, you’ll find him using the TaylorMade Stealth 2 three-wood with a Ping G425 Crossover 2-iron to aid his long game.
Through his 4-iron to Gap Wedge, Matthew uses the Ping i500 irons accompanied by Ping’s Glide 3.0 56-degree and 60-degree wedges.
Another club that has stood the test of time in his bag is a Nike Method Core MC-3i putter which has had to have the SuperStroke grip changed at least three times. Ball of choice is the Titleist ProV1.
