US Open prize money: Here’s what the winner takes home

Not only do they get to win one of golf’s oldest and most prestigious trophies, but they also bank the highest payout in major history

The US Open prize money has had a huge boost after the USGA revealed a record high purse for men’s majors. Here’s how much is in the pot this year, and how much it has increased over the years…

2022 US Open prize money

The overall purse for the US Open was bumped up to a mouthwatering $17.5 million, a $5 million increase from the 2021 tournament. Champion Matt Fitzpatrick will take home $3.15 million, the highest pay-out in major championship history.

The runner up will take home roughly $1.89 million, with third place cashing in just shy of $1.25 million. Here is the exact pay out for every placed finish at the 2022 US Open…
