Matt Fitzpatrick is a young Englishman on the rise. He is one of just two male players from the country to have won a major championship in the past decade, thanks to his US Open victory.
Fitzpatrick had a successful amateur career, starting with a victory at the Boys Amateur Golf Championship. He made the cut at the 2013 Open Championship as an amateur, going on to win the Silver Medal. That was followed by a victory at the US Amateur Championship at Brookline, and he is one of just two Englishman to have ever lifted the trophy, after Harold Hilton’s victory in 1911.
The Englishman dropped out of college after just a quarter to start his professional career, and he took his first DP World Tour victory in 2015. He won the British Masters at Woburn and has gone on to win the DP World Tour Championship, the season-ending Rolex Series event in Dubai, three times, including most recently in 2025.
Fitzpatrick’s first win on American soil was also his first major win. He returned to Brookline nine years on from his US Amateur win and wrote a fairytale story. An incredible approach from a fairway bunker on the 72nd hole helped him to the US Open title. It was followed a year later by wins at the RBC Heritage and the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. He has 11 worldwide professional wins to date.
