Joaquin Niemann is undoubtedly one of Chile’s best golfing exports, with wins on the PGA Tour, DP World Tour and LIV Golf League.

He was born in November 1998 and took up the game very early, playing alongside his father at his local golf club. His ability was there from the outset, and he went on to become the No.1 on the World Amateur Golf Rankings in 2017, winning the Mark H. McCormack Medal. Niemann won six times on the Chilean Tour as an amateur, before then also winning on it as a professional.

The Chilean has two wins on the PGA Tour, having taken his first at the Military Tribute at The Greenbrier in 2019. He also won the Genesis Invitational three years later. Niemann then made a big money move to LIV Golf in the summer of 2022 and became the captain of Torque GC.

During the off-season in 2023, Niemann played on the DP World Tour and claimed his first win on the tour. He won the ISPS Handa Australian Open, before then winning the 2024 season opener in the LIV Golf League in Mayakoba, carding a 59 in the process. The Chilean doubled up that year, with a win in Jeddah as well. He now holds the record for the most individual wins in the LIV Golf League, following a quintet of victories in the 2025 season.

In terms of ranking, Niemann remains the only Chilean amateur to ever sit at the top of the World Amateur Golf Rankings. He earned the Mark H. McCormack Medal for being the sport’s leading amateur at the end of 2017.

LIV’s Sub-60 Club

In the opening round of the 2024 LIV Golf League season, Niemann fired in a 59 to become just the second player in history with a sub-60 in the league’s fledgling history. Only Bryson DeChambeau – who shot a 58 at the Greenbrier in 2023 – has the same achievement.

LIV’s Leading Light

Thanks to an incredible run in the 2025 campaign, where he won five times in the LIV Golf League, Joaquin Niemann holds the record for the most individual wins in the tour’s short-lived history. He is a seven-time winner in LIV Golf, taking victories in five different countries.

Chilean Olympian

Niemann represented his nation at the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The Chilean finished in the top ten of the men’s event, alongside compatriot Mito Pereira, who he now plays alongside for Torque GC in the LIV Golf League.
