The Memorial Tournament is a Signature Event on the PGA Tour schedule, which means it has an almighty purse to come with it.

There is a $20 million prize purse up for grabs at Muirfield Village in Ohio, $4 million of which will go to the winner. They will also have the honour of shaking hands with tournament host and golf icon Jack Nicklaus.

The best players on the circuit will be back for more as we approach a part of the season that features Signature Events and even more major championships.

Last year and this year, the winner of the Memorial Tournament earns a cool $4 million, the same amount of money you win if you finish top of the leaderboard at a LIV Golf event. This is what the winner receives at a player-hosted Signature Event on the PGA Tour in 2025.

The Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Memorial and the Genesis Invitational are the player-hosted Signature Events that have 36-hole cuts and give away 20% of the purse to the tournament winner.

Since Patrick Cantlay won this event in 2021, the purse has more than doubled. Cantlay won $1,674,000 of the $9,300,000 purse. This is a sign of professional golf’s direction of travel.

Some of the best players in the world have won this event in the last 15 years. Scottie Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Hideki Matsuyama and Tiger Woods have all won this special event that has Jack Nicklaus’ footprint all over it.

Here is the Signature Event schedule for the 2025 PGA Tour season. The Players Championship is not a Signature Event but offers 750 FedEx Cup points for the winner and a total purse of $25 million.

The Sentry: January 2 – 5
Winner: Hideki Matsuyama
